Weird glitches today . . .

I picked up FC2 again today after a couple of weeks away, and two weird things happened . . .
First, I was sent to the Polytech to kill Seth Uniya.  Everything was going great: I arrived on site from the river side, used the "aim while walking" trick to move silenty back to Seth's building, and entered without being seen or heard.  After shaking him down and sending the supply plane off course, I moved in to deliver a swift final blow with the machete.  But he didn't die . . . well, he did, at least as far as the mission was concerned (objective updated and my cell started ringing).  But there he was, still standing upright with his hands in the air, staring right back at me?!  Unsure of what to do I promptly delivered a shotgun blast to his face to make sure the deed was really done, but no effect!  Of course by now my cover was well blown, so before the guards could locate me I skampered away back down to the river and swam away just below the surface.   :-[

Not more than an hour later I headed to the underground location just south of the airport to get more medicine, and something else weird happened.  As I was standing there talking to the guy, I noticed all the stuff on the table was slowly sliding to the right.  We've all seen the odd moments in the game where it seems like gravity stops working for a minute, but this was something different altogether.  It was like the table was slanted, and the books and packs of cigs stacked up on it were slowly sliding off the edge.  I stood there and just watched as one by one they all slid of the edge of the table onto the floor.   :-\  Anyway, that was enough weirdness for me for one day . . . anybody else ever see either of these?

spaceboy

wow, no I haven't seen anything like that.  That last one is even stranger than the guy not dying.

never seen any of that, either... hehe, "wow" indeed  :o :)

Those are definite weirdies, mmosu, I've never seen anything like either of those glitches (cue Twilight Zone music) ::)

TopHat01

After you killed the guy, did he still talk?

mmosu

No, he didn't.  His last words were "There, it's done, see you later then?".  After that was the machete blow, his gun popped out and hit the floor, "objective updated" popped across the top of the screen, and I was given the opportunity to save my game, everything like normal.  I thought maybe he would drop after the game saved, but there he stood.  It wasn't like he was "frozen" or anything either because he was still blinking.  I've seen guys I killed get sort of frozen in strange death poses before, but this was different . . .

Art Blade

I've once killed a guy who kept moaning, although his body was not twitching.

I'm constantly amazed by the fact that the longer we play this game, the more stuff like this keeps popping up.  You would think that between us we would have seen it all by now but apparently not!  I don't know much about programming or how a game like this is made, but it's interesting to me to see how many unique "errors" can be generated by a finite, well-defined program.

Those could have been the exact words of FC2's programmers, too.  ;D

It also might have made the feel like saying "I don't know much about programming, but . . . "  ;)

Art Blade

actually, that was in my original reply, but I thought it to be too mean... in the end, FC2 is a nice game  ;)

It's a form of job security.... ;)

Art Blade

hehehe, yeah  ;D

Reminds me of a group of robbers who entered a room with a safe in it, and they asked the safe specialist over to do his job. After working long and obviously hard on that thing, he managed to open it. Later he revealed to someone else that the safe had never been locked...  :)

Truly a strange experience - have not experienced anything like that on PS3 or PC.

Yeah - I've seen that! ;D

I'm also assuming we've all seen (and heard) the vehicle-enmeshed dead merc who causes the wrecked vehicle he's encased in to keep rattling and making crashing noises? Usually because he's got an arm or a leg stuck in a door or something.

Art Blade

yeah, I've heard and seen that :) Quite annoying, sometimes, hehe

A merc stuffed through an AT's frame?

Yeah have seen that and I think there's no better excuse to go for a drive!  :-X

mmosu

yeah I've seen the repetitive crash noise too, I think that is a pretty common one.
And I did get a guy hung up in the door of a jeep once, drug him for a good long way, he he  ;)

you've given him syrettes? Another glitch?

sorry, couldn't help it  ;D ;D ;D

If it could have prolonged his punishment then, yes, I would have  ;D

Just had a perverse thought . . . that would be a cool thing they could throw in on FC3 - have missions where you have to capture/detain a person of interest and utilize various, creative...uh...eh-hem...interrogation techniques, using syrettes to prolong the pain until they cough up the info you were sent after  ;)

Art Blade

you should team up with retiredgord, he's about as reckless and tough ;D

retiredgord

::) ::)Who's that retiregord guy? Would he do something like that on purpose? NAWWW, maybe by a little accident that curr would do that dirty deed.
The sun is over the yardarm somewhere in the world..time for a beer :)  :)

Art Blade

you are right, accidents with a "wake-up" effect, then kill everything that woke up with whatever gun available  ;D

That would be cool Art, if I understand what you are getting at . . . accident as in a high speed collision between two vehicles, wake up on the ground, blurry vision, scramble to your feet, heal yourself, grab whatever weapon you can to try and finish off any survivors before they can do the same!  It always kind of bothered me that even at top speed and headed right at each other, the collisions between vehicles can be a bit of an anticlamax.  Would be cool if some got ejected from their rides, some stayed in, some got killed, and what ensued would be a big hot mess of every man for himself.
