You got Cocaine wrong, the original is by JJ Cale :)

Otherwise, excellent selection  :-X

J.J Cale - Cocaine

Here's one we can't miss in this list of all times greats:

Machine Gun - Band of Gypsys (Music Video)

The vid is a little less classic than the song, but I couldn't find a more appropriate one ;)
"Responsibility is not a matter of giving or taking, responsibility is something you share" -Binnatics

Binnatics

I hope this one is classic enough... can't stop spamming :-D

Nebraska - Bruce Springsteen ( live )
"Responsibility is not a matter of giving or taking, responsibility is something you share" -Binnatics

One more

Neil Young - Like a hurricane- Berlin 1982

Okay this is the last; Imagine an empty bar. The air is still thick of all the daizy people who have exhausted you until just 10 minutes ago, when the last of them left, in the cool morning breeze. Grab a beer and put this song on the speakers. On repeat.  :-D

Aretha Franklin - I say a little prayer ( Official song ) HQ version , Photos / Photoshoots

an old favorite;
brandy

and stilll one of the better drum solos imho;
Iron Butterfly - 1969 In A Gadda Da Vida
"A living thing seeks above all to discharge its strength--life itself is will to power..."

Fiach

Dunno how many people thought that song was called In the Garden of Eden   :'(

Dunno, there are a few versions of the story from the band of how the title came to be,
but the theme of all of them is the same, a drunken slur. It fits the lyrics.
Anyways, once you've had a few pops that's what you'll hear, so it works.  :)

I love Hard Rock- Acid Rock, that thing that happened with some of the music in the late sixties into the early seventies.  Magic Carpet Ride, Whole Lotta Love, Nothing Is Easy and the like.

Some how this one slipped in.

Lulu "To Sir With Love"

Yeah, it's a recent remake but is like a visit from an old friend.
- mandru
Gramma said "Never turn your back 'till you've cut their heads off"

Binnatics

Iron butterfly convinced me of posting the next song:

Free Your Mind And Your a$$ Will Follow - Funkadelic

What I like about these songs is that when you take a few minutes to listen to it, once you're 'in' you can't imagine the song to EVER stop :-D

@Mandru: Your song made me remind this one.

Because the Night - Patti Smith Group (1978 top 20 hit)

Man these posts are bringing back tons of great memories from when I was young.  Here are a few more:

I first listened to this when I was interested in CB radios - the large station kind with huge antennas on the roof

This one I first heard while walking the streets of Portland Maine in the early 1960's with my family.  I can still remember that I wanted to purchase one of those classic James Bond-style miniature cameras.

... and this one that I listened to over and over while building hydroplanes with my friend.

... and who could ever forget Woodstock

Here's one I really liked in the early 1970's while attending a Junior college.  I began reading all I could about the American Civil War, and this piece was one that I thought fit the theme.  Bruce Catton was my favorite Civil War author - he brought the journals of individual soldiers into the story, which made it so poignant.

Whoowie ^-^ 8) :-X

That first vid... Classics IV; that guy is just too slick. It drips off. He might skid when he stands still too long :-D

Animals:  :-X

Summer in the city reminds me of Joe Cocker. Didn't know this version. Is it the original?

Santana :-X :-X

Woodstock; Damn I'm young.... by the way... were you hairy too? 8-X

I was. When I was young. That seems only recently. Here are a few of my 'oldies':

Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

Prodigy - No Good

Oh, yeah, the hairy period:
PanterA This LoVE Live TV 1996 HD 2011

You may skip this one :-D
Slayer - Killing Fields

Eazy-E - Eazy Duz It

Finally I found some sort of inner harmony. This next album might describe best where I ended up around 2000. I think I didn't listen to anything else for 3 months or so ;)
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication [Official Music Video]

Lovin' Spoonful were the ones that performed the version that I remembered from the '60s - I don't know if they were the first, but they were for me.  ;)

I never did go to Woodstock - was too young at the time, but knew if it - my parents would not let me grow my hair long.  :-()

Fiach

Karn Evil was one of the few songs I liked by ELP, I had it on vinyl (Brain Salad Surgery), it was pretty cool, when you turned the record over the song continued from where it faded out on the first side... not something you get nowadays with CD's.

Nice blast from the past :)

I gave up on hip hop/rap after Ice T quit, check his album Bodycount for a nice metal rap hybrid style.

Lovely Stairway to heaven pastiche at the start of this one :

Body Count - Body Count

They banned the crap out of this in the US :

Ice T Cop Killer and Body Count

Some nice OG stuff :

Ice-T - Midnight
