Had the remaining two ribeyes we purchased about a year ago ($3.99/lb) - ground them up with a few chicken tenders.  The meat was still perfect - a testament to vacuum sealing.  These were the best burgers we've made ever

The meat was as red as the day it was packaged

Thanks, AB - they were most memorable, and cost no more than reasonable quality ground beef in our stores.... and I know exactly what is ground in them.  :)

Good ingredients are most important. If you check the labels of prepacked food, there's such a lot of chemicals in it that people who are used to it tend to find it difficult to enjoy fresh food because it seems to lack something. The lack of flavour enhancers, to be precise, and usually salt and sugar. I'll never forget packed salmon, it had smoke flavour (OK) and sugar added, among other stuff. What on earth does sugar have to do with fish? Or most other foods, there's always sugar in it. Weird. Better buy fresh stuff and cook it yourself :)
