I don't really like Within Temptation. Isn't it Gothic-like?

Anyway, If you like it you may also like The Gathering:

The Gathering - Saturnine

Before the female singer made the band famous, it had a totally different appearance with a male singer. The next song comes from the Album Always, and came out in 1992.:

I dont know about "gothic", It's a genre/style/label attached to so many different bands, from All About Eve (mostly acoustic), to Sisters of Mercy who's albums spawned many music styles. Sharon has quite an operatic range and quality and the bands fusion of metal and orchestral sounds compliments it very well.

Theres a band kinda similar to them with a girl vocalist, called Nightwish :

Nightwish - Amaranth

I didnt like The Gathering tbh, the girls vocals are not in the same league (universe even) as Sharons, the guys vocals (dunno if vocals is the correct term :)) are just shite :)

I did like the Gathering before the female singer came. I liked the combination of a very tranquil metal with the super low grunt which gives it a somewhat sinister, dreamy sound.

When the female singer came, I sort of lost track of the group.   :-D

You should check out Neurosis, they are heavy but with more defined vocals.
