... using this mod on the PC.  It's been long enough ago that I've forgotten lots of the game - might be time to give it a whirl after I'm done with the AC series.

The great thing about my favorite games is that there are enough of them to keep rotating them into play.... that is until FC3 comes on the radar  >:D

I briefly started this game back when I bought it in a Steam sale a couple years ago
, but didn't get round to playing it through yet. That was partly because I wasn't so into 3rd person view for this type of game.

Now I'm really excited about this mod, though not sure if it's compatible with the Steam version.... Would it be a bad idea to use this mod first time around?

Good to see you again B33ENN,
I think it should w@&k with the Steam version because the location of my game is the Steam folder.

As to applying mods from the beginning I say go for it!

B33 ENN

Thanks for getting back so quick PZ!  :-X

Will download and look into install procedure. I want to play something open again after a series of sequenced shooters recently.  8-X

Wow, very cool.  The mods are what make me want to game on PC now but the lack of money forces me to stick to my PS3.

B33 ENN

Holy Hell!!! This game is great fun! I'm only just getting into it but it really is addictively good!  :-D

I tried the FP mod and it was really well done, but the feel just wasn't quite there with manipulating Rico's avatar. I decided to switch back to normal 3P mode. It's actually very playable, more than I thought. A lot of my Dead Space experience is coming back and the vehicles are out of this world!

So far I've hijacked rides of all sorts from trucks to tuk tuks! Lmao, it's so funny getting into road accidents and having the cops after you. I even went for a swim on the sea, hijacked choppers and took a plane over the mountains before skydiving to the next faction leader!

Oh, if only Far Cry 2 and Just Cause 2 could get together and have a baby...   B-)

Sounds like you're having a blast  :-X

There are many missions and places I'd like to revisit

Art Blade

Although I have never played JC2 with that FPS mod despite favouring FPS over TPS I agree it is one of the best TPS I've played and yes, it is very addictive. Once you're through for your first time you may want to see what other many mods there are for this game. I particularly liked and therefore remember the one that turns your rocket launcher (bazooka) into a weapon of mass destruction by causing explosions the size of a NPP blowing up  :-()

I agree - even though 3rd person, the game is better played this way for me.  A couple favorite mods for me are faction helos and the extra long distance grapple wire.  Oh, the Bolo patch is also great.

B33 ENN

Wow, the nuke launcher sounds like a... blast

I haven't even started buying the Blackmarket goodies yet to think about modded weapons!

I think it would be good if they make a choice of FP or 3P mode for JC3. It'll be like FC3 on steroids,  but with a more satisfying campaign.

Speaking of which, I'm liking the story so far, it has a nice blend of tongue in cheek humour coupled to cliched spy antics. I saw that Rico and his two friends SHeldon and Kane were in the first game, so I booted that up to have a look at what they did on San Espirito before coming to Panau.

good idea.. maybe there's a JC1 playthrough on youtube.. I will have to check that out when I find time for that kind of thing :)

A couple of things irk me so far. One is that you can't save where you are and have the console checkpoint system, so you spawn at a base and if you die, you lose your vehicle!

However, I can live with that, but the"Leaving mission area" thing is just wrong! I should be able to go away and come back (with my helicopter :D ) mid mission if I want LOL.

PZ

I agree with your observations  :-X

One thing I started doing was having alternate transportation available in the black market area - there was one mission to a chemical plant which gives you access to a helo, but it was barely fast enough to make it to a check point.  My solution - purchase the mini-jet and I made it in no time.  >:D

Moral of the story - there is usually an easy way to accomplish a mission if you choose the correct equipment.  ;)

B33 ENN

Ah... I've been avoiding spending any money right now as I'm relying on picking up weapons etc. So if you buy an item once, they deliver you a new one whenever you need, wherever you happen to be in drops?

PZ

Actually I think you need to purchase each time if memory servers me correctly

Art Blade

I think so, too, PZ. Been a while :)

However, I remember that after a while I avoided BM weapons that use rare ammo or vehicles that tend to get lost. Far easier to steal vehicles and remember places where weapons are located. You can find weapons not only in your bases but in various places around the map. I remember one small island that had speed boats, weapons and other stuff just waiting for you to pick them up :)

Thanks for the reminder - forgot all about that post!  I'm currently enjoying a quiet day playing JC2, and am soon to put the spice-rubbed prime rib onto the smoker - a Bobby Flay recipe  >:D

Art Blade

Always welcome  :)

Psst, guys.. actually he made me co-admin so I could serve as a personal assistant.. meaning, a reminder walking on hind legs and kept on a very short leash.  :-D

Actually, we've discussed several times the likelihood that Art is really a computer pretending to be a gamer - he remembers just about everything.
