Title: Windows 10 Anniversary edition (version 1607)
Post by: PZ on August 26, 2016, 08:43:46 AM
Microsoft is trying to pull another fast one.  They have released an "Anniversary" edition to celebrate a year of success with the new OS.  In addition to new features that are marginal for any of my needs, they have taken away the toggle to turn off Cortana, that annoying "personal assistant" that is designed to harvest information. Cortana only performs searches using Bing and the Edge browser, si I do not want to use it at all.

Fortunately you can do a registry hack or edit the group policy to disable Cortana, which I have already done on my machine, and works fine.

For anyone on W10, you will automatically be "upgraded" one of these days.

Cortana never bothered me. But if she starts doing so, I will definitely get rid of her ;)
