It has come to my knowledge that Gearbox has been sort of confirmed by Randy Pitchford in an interviue with VG247.
Check it out here: http://www.gamerzines.com/ps3/news/borderlands-2-confirmed.html (http://www.gamerzines.com/ps3/news/borderlands-2-confirmed.html)
And since Gearbox now has aquired the rights to Duke Nukem, here´s a little flick showing our favorite robot giving Duke a few pointers:

The game was great and sold well, I dont think it was ever in doubt, but its nice to have a confirmation :)
Agreed, I haven't seen a game in a long time that developed such a rabidly devoted following - indeed a no-brainer, but confirmation from the pitch man himself doesn't hurt either :-X
It´s confirmed that Borderlands 2 are coming some time next year. >:D Check oit this info from Game Informer:

It doesn`t say much about the game though ????
Anyway, I`ve heard about Borderlands 2 but that was just rumor... now is getting solid! Nice find deadman :-X

Well Gamescom is coming up in a couple of weeks and I´ll guess we´ll get more info then.
Hehe, deadman, PZ is going to love you. As he keeps telling us that his memory isn't so great, your manner of replying to last posts by quoting the last posts exactly and entirely will help PZ to remember what you were replying to. Unlike me, I just reply. :-()
Very, Very Cool :-X
Possibly a new vault-hunter on the cover there? Well, I guess they're not really vault-hunters anymore, are they?! :-() At any rate, there are some cool things in the background of that picture . . .

They only forgot about one thing... Duke should have NUKED the damn robot >:D
According to the Borderlands Wiki, the release date for BL2 is set for Sept 1, 2012. We'll see how long it takes for that to change :D :-D
Also, the Borderlands 2 website has launched: http://www.borderlands2.com/ (http://www.borderlands2.com/)
Currently, there is a link to the GameInformer article (which hasn't been released yet, so I'm not sure why it's linked here), and a pre-order link.
I'm glad the next game will still be on Pandora, there could never be another place so over-the-top and rediculous, and it wouldn't be Borderlands if it were anywhere else . . .
Stay tuned >:D :-X
:) :-X
Nice, 13 months to go and counting.....
I hope they have random generated missions >:D
Could not agree more, in fact more games should have random mission generators in them.
Would be really nice for UBI to release an SDK for it seeing as they never did for FC2. That would open the doors for all the modders out there to get to w@&k and create some more magic for it.
Random generated weapons works by creating different parts with random values for each. For instance; type: shotgun, barrel: 8 rounds, explosive: yes, scope: no and so on... I admit that random generated missions would be much more complex than that but as I think about it... it's do-able :-\
I was kidding when I posted that, but who knows, one day? A possible structure could be:
Go to: place (chosen out of four or five plaves in the map).
Do what: kill, destroy, sabotage, steal, threaten, etc.
Difficulty level (dictates how many enemies and how powerful they are: depends on your XP level.
FC2 is pretty much like that but not random ;)
You could be prompted to do three or four of those random missions to unlock a regular main mission (not random) to keep the story flow.....
Well... just dreaming.... ::) :-[
good idea, randomly generated missions.. like deliver something from A to B and get a reward could also be possible :)
Damn... why don't we get paid to have ideas like that to games :D :'(
The only game I've seen with any sort of random mission generator is ARMA 2. Mostly through a couple of mods that have been done for it and even those are a little limited.
As for borderlands they almost have the things in place for it with the bulletin boards, they just need to figure out the algorithms to set them up kind of like JRD said

Would be great to see more things like this in some titles as it can only really add to the longevity and re-playability of the game. Also if they are kept as just optional side missions then there should be no problems keeping them from crossing the story line.
Seems like there was an element of this in RDR with the wanted poster missions. All the game needed to decide on was a name, location, bounty amount, and a character model, and all the player needed to decide was dead or alive? >:D What's a series of yes/no or limited option questions to a computer? Not much, as Borderlands proved with the weapons and item generation. It shouldn't be that difficult to make the leap to random missions with the right programming know-how. I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for a "workbench" feature like we discussed in other Borderlands threads - one that allows you to scavenge parts from other weapons to create new and improved versions of your favorites without the hassle of using a separate modding program!
A 'workbench' set up for weapons is one of the things lacking from many games, it usually being a case of like it or lump it with weapons. The seemingly endless random weapon creation of borderlands keeps it interesting as you gather bigger and better weapons through-out the game. I found this a good alternative to the weapon selection in FC2 which was limited (but all within the concept of the setting and environment).
The relatively simple set up for weapons and armour in the Stalker series is a good example of being able to make a few simple yet effective way of giving the player some control over the equipment they use. All the modifications are kept within realistic boundaries to prevent over complication. Like wise some of the mods that have added weapons have also added different classes of ammunition which is another feature missing from a lot of shooter based games.
I suppose in the end it comes down to the balance the creators want to achieve although in some cases it often feels like the games are made to a low common denominator by keeping choices of equipment to a minimum in order to maximise the over-all multi-player aspect of the game.
Some games developers need to start crediting their target audience with a little more credit by including more player options, they are after all just options. Considering that many FPS games are rated 16 or 18 its not as if a bunch of young school kids are going to get frustrated by too many choices and it is highly doubtful that including such options is going to turn gamers into crazed gun wielding maniacs running rampage through the streets. Thats what the games are for!
The ability to swap in different types of ammo could be a cool feature, allowing each of those 80 bazillion guns to take on varied attributes :-() Reminds me of this video:
12 Gauge Dragons Breath (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RP4FjODPDFA#ws)
"As you can see, those are VERY effective" ^+-+
F me sideways, that dragon breath is breath-taking. ???
That is cool. Really like the guys t-shirt and the way the gun is blue and red makes it look like some kids toy gun.
Now I'm going to have to figure out how to tweak the ammo scripts in Stalker to try and get incendiary rounds :)
You should check out his other videos, he´s got a lot of really cool guns >:D

Wierd thing is, FPSRussia is like the 23rd most subscribed channel on YouTube! And he's not even really Russian! ???
Another example of a different ammo type:
Glock 17 Explosive Ammo! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbsgHbXubGU#ws)
I watched that vid before when I was checking his channel, hehe :)
If he isn't Russian then he's doing a really good job imitating the accent, sounds always the same and no falling back to whatever his native tongue might be.
Yeah, he does a pretty good job. I actually did some research after a friend of mine turned me on to his YouTube channel. Turns out he's from the state of Georgia here in the U.S. One reporter that interviewed him said he really sounds like a good 'ole southern boy. I suspect he shoots the show from somewhere in Illinois, because one vid shows him playing paintball at CPX sports, which is just outside of Chicago. It's definately not shot in Georgia, since some of the videos show snow on the ground. Supposedly, the idea for the character comes from the days when he used to w%&k on a used car lot - one of the salesmen was Russian, and the inspiration for the character came from this guy's accent and the rediculous things he would say. He started out on YouTube doing gameplay videos for Call of Duty and the like, and he would start out his videos by firing a real-life example of the gun he would be using in the game. Pretty soon he realized people were responding more strongly to the real-life gun play, and the rest is history. Supposedly, he has a really good relationship with a local gun dealer that will let him use whatever he wants. :-D
Sounds believable, thanks for the trivia :) :-X

I think every time I got a gun with more damage and rate of fire it became my favourite. That was until the next one turned up anyway!
I hope they keep at least some, if not all of the random weapon generation from BL1. It was an interesting and novel way of dealing with a players lust for destruction. :)
:-D
I remembered someone created a BL 2 thread some time ago, I search it but I didnt find it so I have to make a new one here. BTW, the search function doesn't w%&k, I typed "Borderlands 2" but I always get the message"Each word must be at least two characters long."

Lol, yeah ^-^
Won't it be FC3, Borderlands 2, and AC3 all around the same time?
That's how I see it ... unless of course, there are release delays :-()
Well, if I had to pick one that seems most likely to be delayed out of that group, I'm afraid it would probably be FC3. It's probably the least derivative of another game out of the three, and you know that can mean problems :angry-new:
Well, for once I won't mind if one is delayed - will give me that much more time with the other >:D
And in the meantime I have to catch up on ACII, AC Brotherhood, and AC Revelations!
Indeed - they are quite special :-X
Saw the thread resurface a few days ago (maybe a week) and thought I should look into this game.
Then I saw this trailer...
Borderlands 2 Wimoweh Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nicvyhrmTDs#ws)
Boy, was I unprepared  The Wimoweh Trailer
Wow!
There's not much more to say about that, but I did notice some things:
1) It looks like the guardian angel may be an actual NPC in the game, rather than some abstract, etherial presence that intrudes on you subconcious from time to time.
2) there appear to be a lot of new, "scooter-esque" characters :-X
3) blood is not the sticky, globular substance it was in the original. It's more stringy and flowy - this is good because the blood wasn't the best before.
Some gameplay and interview with the pitch-man, it's looking good :-X

Thanks for the extra trailers mmosu - it sure holds a lot of promise and as a game appears to be as flexible as you want it to be.
EXCELLENT :-D :-X
I know! I'm having a really hard time deciding who my 1st playthrough character will be. Good thing I've got time - a decision that important deserves some cool and logical deliberation :-D Mordecai was my favorite in the original, so as the new assassin class, Zero is the natural front-runner. . . of course we don't yet know what a "Mechromancer" is either ????
Might have answered my own question:

Borderlands 2 - New Mechromancer Class (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ6Cr2g2MGE#ws)
Some concept art that gives some idea of how they've diverged the feel of each weapon manufacturer . . .
The unlabeled one is Torgue. S&S has been replaced by Bandit, Dahl will have a hard-core military look, Jakobs will retain a wild-west feel, and Atlas will not reappear because the failed invasion of General Knoxx bankrupted the company - kind of a cool tie-in with the last game :-X

great, this game now definitely got my attention and I do very much wish to play it :-() :-X
Honestly I was worried early on when they anounced 4 new characters, but now the more they talk the more I like everything I'm hearing, which is the opposite of what's happened with another release that I'm anticipating later this year (man, I hope I'm wrong about that one :-\\). The massive amount of support for Borderlands 1 shows just how much Gearbox values input from their gamers, and there's every reason to believe that will continue for the sequel :-X
agree on all accounts :-X
I'll be pre-ordering it today, but yeah Gearbox will always get my support, not because they make great games, but you can tell they are gamers at heart. While I didnt like Duke Nukem, Gearbox still get my respect for releasing it, cant wait for Aliens!

Yeah, they took a game that people wanted but hadn't had a pulse in years and brought it back to life! It didn't matter if it sucked or not, I give them props for raising the dead! I think a lot of other devs wouldn't have touched DNF with a ten foot pole because it seemed to be the kiss of death for every studio that did - but it's that same balls-to-the-wall mentality that drove them to release a game as daring and risky as Borderlands in the first place, and now by the sound of it they'll be reaping rewards for years to come :-X
As they say, "He who dares, wins"
Now with my new video card I'm a bit short on new games... I'm still playing Arkham City and JC2 and still have a playthrough all Assassins Creed waiting for me somewhere in early AC2... I plan to get Max Payne 3 to have something new - but not before reading through OWG threads to see what people think about it!

@ King Rat, Hope you have fun :)
Yeah...bit of a Solomon Grundy situation. Applied on Monday, phone interview Thurdsay and face-to-face on Tuesday (would have been Friday if the trains had been cheaper) and job offered on Wednesday.
All a bit whirlwindy...
Cheers guys.
A new job is always exciting - all the best, Jim :-X
Woo-hoo! All the bloody best, Jim matey!! :-X :-X :-X :)
On topic, I just ordered my (non-German, uncut) copy :-() :-X
Way to go Jim, congratz mate :-X 8) :)
Congratz to you too, Art :-X Geez, you mean you didn't go for the watered down, nanny-knows-what's-best-for-you version? You sure you can handle a grown-up game with explosions and rude words and stuff?
O lament the loss of innocence...
:-()
Got it this morning (couldnt play much spraine wrist).
I liked the idea that it searched for old save games, but was disappointed with the "head" reward.
Was weird running around in snow, but I finally figured out who Claptraps voice reminded me of ....(NO! not Art!) :)....spongebob squarepants, just hit me as he was looking for his eye :)
Fiach, you just barely but, however, managed to avoid a freshly chiselled gravestone with words on it along the line of "sudden, unexpected unnatural death" >:D
Your intermission actually made me chortle. ^-^
Fragger, hehe, yes.. I'm prepared to take it :-D
BOOM! Headshot! >:D :)
Today I received information that I'd have to wait some more because the store ran out of copies. Kind of my personal "delayed" message, then :angry-new: ETA: next week. Could be Friday next week, then.
Sometimes the most clever comments retailers make are the excuses they concoct.
Its just a fact of life that stores carry less inventory nowadays, its always best to preorder something you intend to get, rather than be disappointed with an out of stock excuse.
I guess the low stock and the popularity of the game and the great reviews make the game difficult to get, it was VERY hard to get a copy of Dead Island at release, because the reviews were bitching that the trailer had nothing to do with the story and gave it bad scores and the shops got in less stock because of this.
I would say with the GAME shop experience in UK and Ireland, the retailers are becoming very prudent with what they will buy in.
It's an online games shop a friend of mine keeps using (I got a few of my games from there). I am not worried, just a little impatient :)
Gents, I got my copy on release day, and my laptop was felled by a poorly-placed glass of water the next ( :D), thus my (I hope) obvious lack of posting since the game came out. Rest assured though, so far everything is as promised and I'm deep in it, with first impressions forthcoming :-X
that was quite a bit of bad luck, then, wasn't it ??? Glad you got it sorted out and I'm looking forward to reading from you (while I'll have to wait some more until I get to experience my own first impressions) :)
Haven't been playing the game for almost a week now, due to other occupations atm. Now that I have a spare moment for myself just now, I realise it's time for some more critical-hit-damage (I was about to spend my next 'point' to that matter >:D)
Now that I look back to the days I was playing the game, I remember various fights with thugs, robots and marauders, but I don't seem to remember much of the storyline. That doesn't surprise me; the storyline only exists in this game to bring you to new, super-duper fights :-() :-()
What I do remember is the humour of the different characters that appear in the story. They really have that great sense of humour I remember from the first BD :) ^-^
I also found out that there's a greater variety in responses of the mercs around. One line that kept surprising me is after I performed another critical-hit: "Ouch no, please not the head!" >:D >:D
I hope you get the game ASAP, Art!! Too bad to have to wait even longer. Looking forward to your first impressions Mmosu :-X :)
cheers, yep, and yep, me too. :-D
Gents, I've split off the "bandit one-liners" portion of the thread to new spot, as soon as I get it all configured we'll be good to go over there. Cheers :-X
I'm still playing BL, BL2 & the Pre-Sequel on PC, 360 and Xbone. Play CO-OP with friends around the world with my xbox gt (DecafKingRat) also have a steam acct. KingRat13 but no friends there yet. Just completed the Robolution on play 2 with Lilith and started the Knoxx one at lvl 55 now. I play a lot of older games, and since Capcom decided to release Dragons Dogma for the PC I went ahead and pre-ordered that too..10 days to release. Anyone interested in this and want to swap pawns just FR me on steam :D
I've been playing the heebie jeebies out of BL, BL2 and TPS lately.
I am almost 500 hours into BL2, my favourite. I have a level 72 Maya having fisished the game on UVHM and getting ready to play the digistruck peak DLC. I also have a level 30 Salvador on normal mode.
TPS is not nearly as good as BL2 but is good fun. I have finished it with Wilhelm and am halfway through with Athena. Both on the first playthrough though.
And just like you, I am finishing Knoxx DLC with Lillith but have also Brick and Mordecai on the initial levels just for fun.
I keep playing old games a lot too. Mainly because I don't want to pay for the new games if I can wait a while and et the game for less than half the initial price but also because I buy games but don't play as much as I want to so I always have good games I haven't finished or games I want to replay over and over and if I keep getting new games it becomes a never ending cycle.
Hey guys, did I miss anything?
I'm glad to hear you're all still enjoying these. I definitely got my money's worth out of them, even with the lack of end-game available in TPS after finishing the story (it still had one of the best stories out of any of these games to date). With Battleborn shipping hopefully soon we'll see the attention over at Gearbox shifted to a full sequel.
:)
Had a friend ask me to join him fighting Craw, and he was going to record it.
My lvl 63 Lilith didn't fare to well so I stayed below till I hit lvl 67 and joined just
under the 5 min. mark. Got a lot of nice gear, and it was fun :-X

I never had much luck doing it legit like that. I always did the fight from the cheese spot on the (north?) ledge. Mordecai could make short w@&k of it - with level 50 sniper proficiency and a fearsome Bessie, you can blow craw's arm off with one shot! Oh, and KingRat, I gave you a YouTube shout out as well :-X
I tried using that "cheese spot" with lvl 63 and still got hammered. Using the defender mod my shields were 4000+, and didn't last long.
Phasewalk sure did help getting out of trouble. I had good Hellfire & Defiler, but the shock maggots were a pain :D
I hear Borderlands 3 was confirmed a PAX :) I know it was rumored last year, but I like this confirmation. I have Battleborn coming for the Xbone next week.
Yep it's confirmed, and gearbox insiders indicated that with Battleborn ready to ship, Borderlands 3 is their main focus now. I don't think that means that they're just starting it, but rather that the team isn't spread across multiple projects now.
Interestingly enough, gearbox registered the trademark "Borderworlds" a few years ago - could be a bit of foreshadowing there (considering the way main-game BL2 ended), or maybe not. We'll have to wait and see...
I recall you being a big BL fan, mmosu
