Just finished the main plot missions for The Secret Armory of General Knoxx last night - two sore and blistered thumbs up!
As with the previous two Borderlands DLC's, the story picks up after the events of the main game are complete.  A Crimson Lance defector named Athena enlists your help to stem the tide as the Crimson Lance has begun gathering it's forces under the command of rogue Lance general Knoxx, in preparation for the resubjugation of planet Pandora to maintain the Atlas corporation's monopoly over ancient alien technology.  Athena informs you that a massive stockpile of weapons has been amassed to the south of T-Bone Junction, and that if you can defeat Knoxx and his army, then their secret armory will be yours. . .
This DLC introduces a laundry list of new features, including about 10-12 new enemy classes, a new super-rare "pearlescent" weapons class, two all-new vehicle types, a slew of new boss characters, and lots more of everyone's favorite in-bred grease monkey, Scooter!  Once again the humor and quality of writing has been jumped up a notch with lines like "this planet smells like hemorrhoids wrapped in bacon" and "now you just go get yer murder on and we'll all act like nobody saw nothin'".  The comedy continues in both dialogue and location humor, with environments ranging from a town of midgets that has somehow been built hanging down from the belly of a freeway overpass, to the isolated "Lockdown Palace" - a prison from which, even though the guards are gone and it is non-functioning, the prisoners remain behind under the leadership of Mr. Shank and his, uh, "friend" Chazz.  General Knoxx himself is a salty, grumbling, sarcastic ba$t@rd, whose communications are full of hilarious, rambling soliloquy about his frustrations with his incompetent superiors and ineffective chain of command, followed by a typical sign-off with something along the lines of "but I'm still gonna kill ya, nothing personal . . . cheers mate".  Other familiar faces and names from previous parts of the game are present too, including Marcus Kinkaid, Helena Peirce, and Moxxi.  The action can get heavy at times, with challenging new enemies often swarming you even on a solo playthrough 1.  If you're going to attempt playthrough 2 be prepared to die . . . a lot.  Luckily there is no shortage of high-end kit to be had, with high level weapon drops very common toward the end and culminating in a dash through the Crimson Lance armory in an effort to swipe as much gear as you can carry before the whole place goes BOOM!  And even after the main plot missions are complete, there are still plenty of tasks to be done, including passing the tests at the Crimson Lance recruiting center, helping Marcus salvage the remains of the secret armory, and taking down the legendary Crawmerax the Invincible, who is the toughest Borderlands boss to date.
So, overall, very much worth the $10 price of admission for any hardcore Borderlands junkie  :-X
