Title: Damage model
Post by: JRD on August 27, 2009, 04:34:47 PM
... yes, thre is a damage model.
Only its not multi-stage and has no parts falling off the car, which would be cool!

I was amused at the fact that at least the car "Deathgrin" shows its doors opening and closing, depending on centrifugal forces, if the car suffered damage. That means, if you crash your car and bomb down a road, the next turn will open the door pointing to the outer part of the turn :)

it must be my bad driving but in races my doors are always flapping open and closed.  But yeah, that's about it for a damage model.

Maybe they sold you a wreck in the first place...  ;)

it sure would be fun to take an FC2 grenade launching truck into these FUEL races!

Man, if Fuel had weapons in it and someone to shoot at, it would be the perfect game for me  :-X

Well yeah, it would be a helluva lot of fun to wage huge battles over the landscape in FUEL.

I suppose I'd like the option to turn warfare on/off though.  I'd hate to be skirting around the hills on my dirtbike, listening to Van Morrison, when a tank shell dropped in front of me!

just an example of the opening ("flapping") door, doing donuts on a road clock-wise. Funny thing, the door opens opposite of centrifugal force... turning right, the right door opens.

Actually, isn't that right?  If you're doing donuts clockwise and your right door is busted and won't close -wouldn't it kind of "trail behind you" as you turn. Maybe it's not centrifugal force per se but rather the (no technical term I can think of) but the fact that the door is attached at the hinge and (maybe it's inertia) - the door wants to stay put and would if not for being pulled by the car, the point of being pulled is the hinge and therefore "swings" out but rather is just being pulled at the hinge.

WOW that's too much thinking this early on a Saturday lol

I was thinking of sitting in that car, left front side, turning right sharply. If I had a passenger to the right, I imagine we both would get pressed against the left door and if that door was loose, flail out to the left sailing into the bushes, car driving away on its own. The car in the pic above has both doors "unlocked" so both swing open and shut, depending on which way the car turns. The left door remained closed, however, and kept me inside. lol ;D
