Title: Music Video: FUEL free roam / One
Post by: spaceboy on June 09, 2009, 06:10:33 AM
Here is a music video (this is your prize for answering the question right dke58).  Seemed like a good idea to put some free roaming down on the open road to some Rush...TOO BAD copyright issues on Youtube wouldn't let me use a Rush song  :'(

Oh well, Creed it is!  Easy switch using their music swap but their list of songs to use isn't very long...  I like this song as well though.  One by Creed.

Woo hoo... GO, spaceboy  8)

Great ride, nice sky and beautyful background... oops, this is not a background, its a racing ground  ;D ;D

I assume you could just fly over one of those cliffs if you want to?

Funny what the music does.  It was fun to drive, but not so fun to watch...add music and it becomes much cooler looking  ;D

EDIT:

OMG   I'm an IDIOT.  I uploaded the one without the MUSIC. DUH!   Ok, check back tomorrow.  Sorry.   hahaha.

Hahahahahahah... I was watching with sound off and didn't realise it  :P
I always send emails asking to see an attachment and forget to attach the file  :P :P :P

Well apparently UMG has pretty tight controls over licensing on youtube so my video is pulled for copyright issues.  I guess no Rush songs in videos...They have a music swap thing I may try instead of changing it myself and re-uploading the 138MB file!

I fight authority but authority always wins!

I posted the vid at the top of this thread using the song One by Creed.  Also a good song and one of few I liked using youtube's audio swap program.

At least I'm safe from pissing off Rush now (never mess with Canadians!)

was fun watching you ride that bike, seen you tried to brake/slide through curves, sometimes almost stopped you. I think with your driving style you're better off using something on four wheels (better to drift in a car than on a bike)  :)  :-X

Art is too polite to say "BUS DRIVER"  ;D ;D ;D

Just kidding  :P

Actually, the ride was wicked and if you are free riding, you act impulsively and just throw your vehicle wherever you think might take you to a nice path (I'm trying to go easy on you now  ;))
Are there any "jump spots" you can do nice stunts over a gorge or something to short cut a race for example?

LOL! bus driver! hahaha! now that you picked up that term, you remind me of some early posts when somebody had difficulties driving... I think it was PZ then :) But since both spaceboy and PZ have that DLC for FC2 they seem to have got a grasp of it, and now they're driving offroad with all kinds of vehicles... I reckon if we had to drive with them (passengers) we'd have difficulties untightening our death grip on the passenger assist handles once we'd arrive alive  ;D

Funny thing is that the bike is my favorite vehicle in Fuel - easiest to keep on the road - probably because you lean into the turns.

That's funny about bus driving because 2 of my favorite games from the PS2 era were the 2 "The Getaway" games that were based in London and they had huge recreated map of London.  Sweet graphics actually.  But ala GTA you could carjack anything including the big red Double Deckers.  Fun times smashing through traffic in those.

Although they weren't open world per se, you could take anyway you wanted to go when on a driving mission and at the end unlocked free roam which was a real blast.  There were mini missions too outside of the game that you drove a Black Cab and had to pick up fares and drive them to their destination in an allotted time without too much traffic damage.

Thought it was Pearl Jam lol :)

The video looks great, just one question, in each corner there appears to be a kind of darkness, like you are looking through a telescope.

Is it that you recorded it from a tv screen with a camera, or is it like that ingame?

Rusng out the door with the kids for school, havent had a chance to read all comments sorry :)

the dark corners looked more noticeable on the recording I think because I switch the aspet to 4:3.  On my widescreen TV I don't notice the dark corners on the top but the bottom corners do have some darkness.  Not sure why  The screen will get some rain drops and mud splashes on it but not alot.

Highway Star would be nice yeah, or Born to be Wild would have sounded cool too, Radar Love by Golden Earring, maybe Souped up Ford by Rory Gallagher, Bat out of Hell by Meatloaf....

So many cool driving songs are hitting me now lol! :)

Thanks dke58, I've never downloaded from youtube, but our good friend spearhead_22 had mentioned a website called keepvid.com (I've never tried it though).  Here is the context of his post along with the link to the entire "Video Check (http://openworldgames.org/owg/forums/index.php?topic=113.0)" thread.  Of course, I can try to zip it and load it here or email it, but it was 138MB i think...let me know.

"Well, you can download the videos off youtube itself. There's a site called www.keepvid.com (http://www.keepvid.com/)
You just need to copy the video url link, like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwVlBRte4Gw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwVlBRte4Gw) (for example), paste it in the keepvid.com site's text box and click on the Download button. You'll have the option of downloading the videos in either low quality (.flv file) or high quality (.mp4 file). To view .flv files, you'll need an FLV player while VLC Player or WMP Classic can play the .mp4 file. Both players can be downloaded for free from the Internet."

..............................................................................
wiked that was soooo easy, that keepvid.com is pretty good, not software like i expected, but a web page, all have to do is copy the URL for your vid, paste into that site and choose FLV low quality format, or MP4 high quality - so i did

came down in 2-3 minutes, 23mb 480 x 360 res.

so gonna grab rest of your vids through out the day. :-X

cheers... I think I need to get a newer version or codecs (got 0.9.6) Last time I checked, my VLC didn't recognise FLV. Going to check for update  :-X

Btw, VLC is my favourite player... knows and plays about everything, plus I love its equaliser for even better 5.1 sound  ;D
Done, plays it :) 0.9.9 actual.

I prefer manufacturer's sites... VLC is here:

Yeah I was just going to leave it as a suggestion to use VLC, but for OCD reasons did a google for some fast linkage, dev sites are usually more up to date, but was in a hurry. :)

I do quite a bit with different formats and here is one of the freeware sites that is quite useful - one player that is really good is media player classic (sounds goofy, but it is great)  The good thing is that it will use any/all of the codecs in the K-lite package.  I use that player to watch a thumbnail (sized to whatever I want) when I'm working on my PC.

http://www.free-codecs.com/

As to grabbing video, Firefox users should check the mods page for any number of video grabbers - for instance, when you want a YouTube video, you simply right-click it from within YouTube and click save.

before I knew VLC I used to struggle with codecs. Back then I used FFDShow that supported quite a lot of codecs.

VLC brings its own vast amount of codecs, without messing with windows. Just on a sidenote, it includes internet radio with countless stations.

PZ, what you said about FireFox, being able to click and save youtube vids, are you talking about add-ons? If so, would you be so nice and point out which ones to try (out of gazillion add-ons... a name would make a search an easier task)?

didnt get on with VLC, found it to be a bit buggy and prone to crashes with large files, use winamp or GOM nowadays, hit a software brickwall last night  :D

my games system is not hooked up to the net, and wanted to record some FC2 to post. my problem was getting decent software to do recording,
so installed Xfire on games macine - needed to register online to activate the record function, uninstalled it.
next was frapps (heard good things about it) all cool if i only want 30 seconds of vid !!! and i dont want to make commercials to post !!!
if  i want to record more than 30 seconds it was going to cost me real cash-money . ERRMMM DONT THINK SO !
spent an hour or so looking on net (hell of a lot of LIARS trying to sell stuff) then found this BB FlashBack 2 Express Installation. its a free download 30 day trial, best thing is you can activate it FOR FREE too.
all you have to do is email them and they send you a code.
there is also 2 upgraded versions of it that are for sale if desired.

so i'm a Happy Merc this mornin  ;D .

gonna grab some breakfast, do few errands then get stuck into it and all goes well should be able to post a vid later today :-X

sounds good... haha, how about a cool merc war so console players can have a look (ignoreplayer) :)

VLC is what I use for movie-DVDs mostly. For that purpose I think it's very good (plays about every DVD, some other progs, including whinedows media players, don't).
