Hi fellow Lone Wanderers. As the subject says this is for info on how to get into AND SURVIVE this radiation hellhole. I saved just before going into the area and then used the radx and kept using the radaway but didn't get near the entrance before I was microwaved like a 2 minute dinner.  Help please. In Little Lamplight there is a door that's very familiar but it opens from elsewhere. Is this a way in but I have to do or find something first?
I know that all you kind-hearted, warm and wonderful fellows explorers will give this old guy some hints (or the best way) to accomplish this so I don't perish in that nasty area.  Besides, I wouldn't be able to to a story line about it.  LOL.
Thanks in advance for any info and help.
I tried some other sites but some answers are vague and sound like "Find it yourself, noob. I did." Na na nana

The best (only?) way in to vault 87 is through Little Lamplight. If I remember correctly there are a couple of ways to get in. You can either talk to the mayer and he´ll open the door for you, or you can talk to some boy (forgot the name as usual) to get a sidequest hacking a computer that will allow you to open the door inte the vault.

hey Gord, deadman is right, im afraid the only way into 87 is thru Little Lamplight. There's 2 ways into 87 from LL, one thru an un powered vault door, but you must have rescued a child named Penny from the slavers in Paradise Falls first, then find and speak to a child named Joseph in LL. You must also have good computer hacking skills.

The easiest way in is part of the main quest, where you speak to Mayor Macready and he will escort you to the entrance to "Murder Pass" a Mute filled cave that's actually not that bad, especially if you have Fawkes to help you.

In my last playthru i tried to steer the conversation with Macready to get him to help me get into 87, but i wasn't on the main quest at that time, so it didnt w@&k. once on the main quest however, this line of questioning is available.
Are you listening to the wind now? Tell the wind to bring me some beer. F*ck the beer, we need women!

Gotta like and enjoy this group. Almost instant and very concise answers to a question. It has been stated earlier "Thanks for this forum" and I echo that statement. Thanks deadman and Ricamundo. Some of you fellows really make gaming enjoyable.

Well I went back to Lamplight to try and access the vault but the Mayor hasn't offered to open and I keep asking the kids but haven't found the right one. I am looking for Keepsake, the shop guy, and even went back to Big Town to talk to some of the recent evictees. No luck but I'll go back later.
Right now I'm just roaming collecting stuff and target shooting.
Thanks Art. I never worry about how long before my question(s) are anwered any time in this forum.

Alright :) Lamplight is quite a big maze and those kids are quite small (and they run around everywhere). I remember a situation when I wanted to go to Vault 87 and like you, I needed to find a particular kid, but it took ages.
