Nice loadout Aeris. I love the silenced shotty and crossbow, although for sniping quietly, nothing beats the Dart. Oh, and welcome here BTW, I cant remember if you posted in the Intro thread, or not. My memory isn't as good as it never was. ;)
Thanks. :P Yeah, I used to use the Silenced Shotgun a lot during Act 1 during my 3rd playthrough (with Fortune's Pack), but dropped it in favor of the Homeland 37, which has pretty much become my favorite Shotgun, it bests the Silenced Shotgun on Reliability; heh, yeah, the Dart Rifle is an awesome weapon, even though I do not use it too much, except for places that I know will be dangerous without using stealth... such as the Airstrip in Bowa-Seko during Reuben's Rescue; thanks for the welcome, I did not post in the Intro Thread, I did not even know that there was one... xP

Yeah, those guys claim to be escort vehicles, but when the chips are down, they'll run away just like any unscrupulous bank robber.  ;D
Yeah, it was a funny sight, I recall a similar situation with a Weapons Convoy, but one of the Escort Vehicles got stuck on top of a rock... the Gunner just ran as if Forrest Gump and hid into the jungle, while the other just shot at me, and shivered a little when he noticed that his "buddy" was already gone.

I wonder if the escort vehicles heard that somewhere there was beer..or "f**k the beer, we need women".
Maybe, that, or they went after the Cab Driver at the beginning of the game that promised them some Cold Beer at his return... or they were on a hurry to go take a leak due to drinking too much beer.

Yeah, like when the truck blows up and makes their teeth rattle, they say "did you hear that?" - "Nah, it was nothing. Must've been the wind."  ;D
Lol, more like a sandstorm in that case, or they are just too scared from facing the Far Cry 2 Guy.

HAHAHA, yeah, I love that one - those guys must be deaf!   ;D

I must say that one of the most entertaining things about the game is the small talk we hear from the mercs, sometimes quite "off the wall", for instance, you've just detonated IEDs strategically planted in an area and all but one are dead.  Then the lone remaining merc has the audacity to state in a condescending tone "Well, look what we got..."

Lol, yeah, so many grenades exploding nearby of them has made their hearing worse than an Old Woman's in the Superbowl Stadium.

Hehe, it is quite funny to listen to what they say, I agree, once, I was assaulting the Polytechnic, I had made quite a mess with the M79, the M249 and the AS50, I went into a room to take cover from 2 nearby mercenaries with SPAS-12's, one of them said, "I am scared, I do not know if we can make it.", and the other counsels him "Do not worry, it is just one man, it is just one man, we can do it, we can do it.", one of them ended up like Swiss Cheese and the other with a Knife Wound in his stomach, what a day, they should have called in sick.

I just admire how much effort you made putting together that post with so many different quotes :) A nice read, then :)

hey Aeris, which one is the Homeland 37?  I'm bad at remembering weapon names.  Is it the shotgun on the lower right hand side in the armory (I guess it's basically like a classic 12 Guage shotgun) or the one above it?  I've been using the "classic" one a lot lately, it's just a no frills shotgun that gets the job done.  It's a littel "old west"...maybe I've been inspired by PZ's Call of Juarez info.

The Homeland 37 is the very first shotgun available, the classic pump action style  ;D

Yeah, that is the Homeland 37, I prefer it over the SPAS-12 because of its longer reach, the SPAS-12 cannot kill some baddies point-blank from 2 meters away sometimes... it is a shame, and I use the USAS-12 every once in a while, but it eats through ammo rather quickly.

Hehe, the AR-16 is good at sniping sometimes. :P

Ricamundo

The USAS 12 is an awesome thing. Shame you can't buy it till well into the game. I am enjoying the DLC toys tho. I have just unlocked my beloved Dart, so i grabbed one, but i only have 3 shots, just like the crossbow, and the sniper upgrade is still locked. Doh!

I remember one conversation in a ceasefire zone, it was between two mercs, one of them was convinced the other guy fought against him in a different campaign and the other guy was doing his best to convince the first guy that he wasnt there and started getting really scared in case the other guy was going to kill him!  8)

My weapons of choice are a sniper rifle and .... well thats it really. Love the AS50, I may upgrade the reliability and ammo on it later though. AR16 is fun too.

The Mac and Uzi while iconic are rubbish in my hands, I dont bother with  the specials, I equip the SAW if I want lots of noise for a change, dont use RPG's or IDE's, just grenades mostly, but not with the launcher.

Now that I'm in Bowa, I have ended up with 2 weapons for each slot, shame I can't carry them all at the same time :(

For primary, I go between the AR-16 and the MGL. Love both of them.
As a secondary, I will carry either the Uzi or the M-79 for some punch
For a special, I like the dart(I'm on easy), but I go a friend bugging me to use the SAW, and he says the dart is awful. I disagree, but I use the SAW to get him to shut up. ::)

Ricamundo

The dart is the perfect weapon for silent long distance kills. You already have some loud stuff there, especially the awesome MGL.

My first use of the MGL was attacking the Polytechnic. I was carrying, if memory serves, the MGL, uzi, and dart. I went in by river, and landed on the river side to the southwest. I tried sniping with the dart, but was spotted. I figured to TRY the MGL. Well, probably got 1-2 dozen kills, only damage I took was from the teacher(I thought he was gonna go peacefully, I had to Uzi him into oblivion.

Any way, my friend thinks the dart rifle sucks for some reason. I think because of the ammo capacity. He is partial to the bigger sniper rifles

JRD

Thats a nice loadout... dart for silence sniping from a distance, UZI for close quarters combat and a lot of grenades with the MGL... enough to put down any army of mercs... will give it a try soon, I just unlocked the MGL today  ;)

The interesting thing about the sniper rifles is that if you are far enough away, the mercs don't seem to hear it, i.e., they don't go on alert unless they see their friend killed.  I've been playing with the AS50 at extreme ranges lately and it almost "feels" like a silent sniper.

Art Blade

the AS50 is awesome: Power (easily goes through 2 mercs at once), Scope (can see really far with it), and Sound... as in Mind-Ripping loud (I really should turn those speakers down). Not only is it loud, it also has this long reverb hehe

The MGL is an awesome beast. You can use it like a rocket launcher by using the sight. it has surprising distance. I'm early on in my current playthru, but after meeting my bud at a safehouse, i noticed a used MGL leaning up against the wall, so after a bit of "should I, or shouldn't I?" I grabbed it and left my silenced shotty behind.

I had to find a radio guy upsatairs at Private Property, and let me tell ya, the MGL, after picking off a few(only 3 shots) mercs with my dart, did a lot of clearing out around the perimeter. I basically just walked in and completed the mish.

Ok, it did jam on me a couple of times, but i'll dispose of it once i get back to Mike's for debrief.

especially if you travel a lot with poorly armed vehicles, especially boats, the MGL is a choice patrol stopper  ;D

Just bought an Eagle .50 ...... WOW! Much better than Uzi or Mac 10 IMO.

So my loadout is now AS50, SAW, Eagle 50, I'm lovin it :)

I think it gives me more freedom in how I approach things, for example, I would never consider hitting a checkpoint, using only the Uzi or Mac 10, they just plough through bullets (well maybe I just suck with them :)), so it gives me a bit more variety.

On saying that, in alot of FPS games, I tend to use a pistol as much as possible, so maybe its just a preferance I have, then again, I guess it depends on the pistol, I hated the makarov.

As far as pistols, I love the silent Makarov - on the PS3 there is a setting called "Aim assist" in the game options.  I guess it is an option because aiming is kind of tough on the console.  In any case, all you need is aim slightly above the head of a victim and press the iron sights button and a head shot is amazingly simple.  The silent Makarov (6P9) is actually the only pistol I've used with any regularity so far.

Fiach

I tried the Silent Makarov, tbh, I felt I was just annoying the mercs with it, I remember doing an assassination with it, the aiming seemed off (well it was dark too, so could have been me, but it was like, you know when the cross hairs turn red, I used that as mi aim guide, then pressed left trigger and shot a few times, I think I only wounded him a little, if anything, but I had to start the mission over again :(

As regards the aim assist. I dont know If there is one on the 360, but I do notice, that, with the AS50 if you aim in the general direction of an enemy, even if the cross hairs are white, when you pull the left trigger, your aim will spring to the merc and pe perfectly centered on the target.

Dont know if this is true for the other weapons, I cant check it just now, but its quite noticable on the AS50.
