D_B, I was checking out that interactive map link you gave us http://fallout4map.com/ which is pretty useful but even it not all inclusive.  There's still a lot of points of interest that aren't shown.

There's a couple omissions I've noted in early personal game play.  Sorry, I can't figure out the Steam (spits) screencap procedure so I'll have to describe the locations.

One is the shack with the Junkies Laser Rifle (updated location info here: http://www.openworldgames.org/owg/forums/index.php?topic=3790.msg80574#msg80574 ).

Then another for sheer weirdness there is "The Church of The Cat."

Start at The Castle (Minuteman base) atop the S.W rampart and move North to stand near the edge of that first break in the Western wall.  With a Long scope look West across that enclosed pond and you will see a row of buildings.  That row of buildings is split by a central gap.  Through that gap (the unit with the red facade is on the left of the gap) you can see an second row of buildings beyond but there is a narrow alley visible that is blocked by a low wrought iron fence topped with spikes.

That wrought iron fence is the perimeter of a small unmarked church with graveyard.  The Eastern side of the church where the cemetery is has a metal cellar door that allows entrance to a scene that may briefly make you rethink your opinion of feral ghouls.  I'll just say the "revered cat" is not going out and collecting its own mongrel dog meat.  :-D

Yes, I've seen that church and it's cellar cat altar. Another weird thing about that church is there's a break in the collision mesh for the exterior model. In other words, there's a spot in the wall you can walk through and be inside the church without going inside if you know what I mean. If you walk the exterior perimeter wall, and keep testing the edge, you will ghost through the wall and see the structure from the inside. If you face the boarded up main door, go to the right around the vestibule, and in the corner where the vestibule meets the main building, you can get inside. You'll be able to see out through the walls and any enemies on the outside can't get in.

On to more screenshots, here's one contrasting the Institute one I posted earlier, as this is the typical bathroom facilities on the island of Far Harbor. Institute still wins.

Bathroom shots, from rustic to those with modern conveniences.  Strange ugly women though  :-()

mandru

Better be careful with that though.  I suspect that's how you catch a bad dose of F.E.V..  :-\\

Yeah, don't want to turn into a super mutant. But yeah, I only just realized you can sit on toilets now, or it's a new feature that was added. I'm pretty sure most of the ones that are busted can't be used as a place to sit down. I'll have to check. You can also command your companions to sit down, so I would think they will sit on them as well.

What was that about ugly women, PZ?

F.E.V? What's that?

F.E.V. is Forced Evolutionary Virus which was Institute created and without consent inflicted on test subjects to create the game's super mutants.  The Institute is FO4's secretive puppet masters (manipulative string pullers) who terrify the above world survivors with a blatant willingness to tamper with or selectively destroy human life to insure their own better living through science.

Alright, so that's why the Institue is destroyed in the ending?

Well, it is a post-apocalyptic, irradiated wasteland. Funny though, most of the main characters (Curie, Piper, Cait) are pretty, but most of the "bad guys" like raiders or gunners are ugly, or just dirty, I mean, where can you get a shower in that place? One that's not using radioactive water?

Anyway, I've been slowly working my way around the island in the Far Harbor DLC, looking at things, and shooting most of them with the explosive minigun I found early on. For those who don't know, it's a minigun (like the kind you usually see mounted on vehicles because they are super heavy, need a source of power or compressed air to w@&k, etc) or like the one that guy in the original Predator movie had, was it Jesse Ventura's character? Anyway, this one shoots explosive bullets, so not only are you putting a couple hundred rounds per minute into your target, they are exploding on impact. So far it's made short w@&k of anything I've used it on.

Here's a cool shot of a crashed plane that is being used as a house by a trader who also trains guard dogs that you can buy.

[smg id=8786 type=preview align=center width=400 caption="Falling Water"]

Once inside, Nick decided to take a seat next to the trader (who's name I forget, Erikson, maybe) who is a super mutant, luckily he's more interested in training guard dogs than killing and eating humans.

Yeah, it was pretty cool. So far the island looks a lot like the real Mt Desert Island, at least what I remember of it. I only spent one night there waiting for the ferry to Nova Scotia. But I can confirm the place is very foggy, at least in the morning. When we left, we were driving to the dock to get on the ferry, and it's a large ship, but we didn't see any of it driving up, until we were really close to it, and the open cargo hold doors were looming above our vehicle like a giant mouth. Then, once we were off shore a bit, the fog lifted and we could see the ocean and look back at the island. Then the casino opened and we had a little fun feeding the one-armed bandits.

I must admit I like the FO4 story and huge world.  I can't wait for the official modding tools to come out which will allow the modders to create (hopefully) clever mods into the game.  I modded FO3 so heavily it was a completely different game in both function and appearance.

OWGKID

I hope your game ran stable  8-X

Yes, it did - one of the "mods" was one which allowed you to discover any clashes in the programming.  I could go down to line level control of all of the mods, so it was as stable as the original game.  ^-^

So, in other words, not very stable at all? :D

OK, I spent a good amount of time over the weekend exploring the island in the Far Harbor DLC. Get ready for a screenshot dump:

[smg id=8802 type=preview align=center width=400 caption="Who's eating whom?"]

I think the teddy bear won that one.

In Far Harbor, it seems garden gnomes have turned evil, or were always evil and just don't try to hide it anymore:

[smg id=8803 type=preview align=center width=400 caption="Knifed"]

[smg id=8804 type=preview align=center width=400 caption="Sawn"]

But they also have to stop for bathroom breaks (hey, it's not my character in her undies on the toilet this time!)

[smg id=8805 type=preview align=center width=400 caption="Toothbrush?"]

Not to be outdone, the teddy bears kick it up a notch:

[smg id=8806 type=preview align=center width=400 caption="One up, one down"]

This one just made it off the ship before it sank.

[smg id=8807 type=preview align=center width=400 caption="Floating"]

I couldn't get a good shot of it, but nearby this shipwreak on fire, were a bunch of gnomes with Molotov cocktails in their hands, can't say for sure they caused the fire, but...

The gnomes might not have been responsible for this, as it was in a super mutant lair, but I wouldn't put it past them....

[smg id=8809 type=preview align=center width=400 caption="Hung"]

Also in the same super mutant lair, you find they aren't so gentle when it comes to humans

[smg id=8810 type=preview align=center width=400 caption="Hammered"]

The skeletons, of course, aren't going to let the bears and gnomes have all the fun, this person obviously decided that the only way to face the nuclear apocalypse was inebriated:

[smg id=8811 type=preview align=center width=400 caption="Also Hammered"]

This guy had a really bad time of it, someone must have really disliked him

[smg id=8812 type=preview align=center width=400 caption="Nailed"]

 :-X I guess you can look at it that way!  Funny thing is that I rarely had a problem, and nothing that could not be circumvented.

Great slide show!

PS: to feed into D_B's toilet fetish, I saw this redneck grill not too long ago
