This is my first JC2 screen capture. Taken only moments after clearing a small military installation - the view from high on the cliffs was very good.
[smg id=2198]
beautiful PZ - and to top it off, you can get to the top of the mountain you see in the distance, I love that.
Verrrry nice, PZ :-X
That pic makes me want to go there, too ;D Nice :-X
Thanks guys - I've captured a few more and am trying to upload as I write - man this game is fun :)
While the following are reasonable examples of some of the views in JC2, they definitely do not do the game justice. There are many more places that I've visited on the console that I did not have the opportunity to capture.
This is the Palau casino - it is perched high on the clifftop and a waterfall runs through the base between the towers.
[smg id=2203]
... a beautiful sunset seen from the deck of the casino
[smg id=2204]
...approaching the casino in an attack helicopter
[smg id=2206]
...a govman - he is "eyeing" me suspiciously
[smg id=2201]
...an example of a "merc war"
[smg id=2202]
...Playing with C-4 (IEDs). I stole someone's car, stuck some C-4 to it and parked it next to a merc patrol that was guarding town. A detonator in raised hand was all she wrote.
[smg id=2205]
...an example of the beautiful seashore.
[smg id=2200]
It is a great-looking game, all right. Some of those screenpics are near photographic (love the sunset one) :-X
Beautiful screenies there, PZ :-X :-X :-X
Man, am I looking forward to getting this game!
Thanks guys - my goodness, you won't believe how realistic the water is - whether swimming, standing in the surf, or boating - truly almost photographic quality. :-X
and there's even fish in the water. Fish!
Cool! I haven't seen the fish yet :-X
Something more to look forward to :)
hmmm... c-4 fishing? :-* ;D

hmmm... c-4 fishing? :-* ;D
haha, I'd not thought of that - wouldn't that be cool if the fish were affected by the explosives - that would be
huge attention to detail ;D
I like your thinking Art! The underwater is really beautiful with all the coral and colors and fishies. It'd be great to see one get blasted onto land...
Has anyone noticed the scorpions in the desert regions? Haven't tried C-4 on them but if shooting them is anything to go by, they just disappear.
Little touches like the fish, scorpions and the birds flying around (tried shooting them but haven't hit hem yet!) just add to the effect of a living, breathing world.
yeah, I've seen (and shot) the scorpions. Scorpio is Rico's handle, I have been trying to figure out if they appear when you cause chaos or do something cool but I don't think so.

[smg id=2234]
...ooops... thought I'd deactivated that detonator
[smg id=2233]
great bunch of shots PZ! that last one is awesome seeing the govmen flying.
Also notice the pipeline shot says 2/55 pipelines. That's a huge amount and is nothing compared to the number of locations 370, or faction items 300, or the number of resource items 2700. There's 49 faction missions, 7 agency missions, 9 stronghold missions. The game truly gives you a ton to do and a big place to do it :)
Thanks space! :)
I hadn't noticed the pipeline number before so I didn't realize that there were so many! I like doing them - the sequences are fun and the explosions are huge (I saw a mod where you change the magnitude of the C-4 explosion into the pipeline explosion - should be fun)
I'm also having a blast using the multiple wire capability of the Bolo mod to string up govmen. Their antics while suspended are funny. The wire is also really strong, and stays attached as long as you remain in the area so I'm going to try things like stringing the wire across a road to see what happens to motorcyclists ;D
In addition to having a massive world in which to play, having fun with the strong wire will lend an entirely new dimension to the game - setting traps for instance. :)
thanks for those very nice pics, PZ, sure is appetising the way you commented them ;D :-X
Also, good read the two of you regarding what to do and how much there is to do. The string mod sounds like a lot of fun to me :) :-X
Thanks for the comment, Art! Yes, the wire mod is activated by what is almost like a trainer - you have many options you can set like using the multiple wires, stronger wires, etc. The "vanilla" wires are a bit wimpy for me - I like wires that will tow a car, and leave the govmen suspended indefinitely.
I'm looking forward to you playing the game to get your opinions ;)
Just for kicks, I captured the map with two of the faction areas shown (Reapers and Ular Boys). It is best when going directly to the gallery image to view it full size. Now imagine over 300 named areas, civilian and military spread all over the map that you have the pleasure of clearing out. The only place without marked settlement of any kind is in the northwest corner - that large island is the Japanese island which is infested with WWII guys that think the war is still on.
[smg id=2235]
I too am looking forward to finally playing the game, and of course I'll post away once I started to play.
I've spent a lot of time, meanwhile, watching different people play through JC2 so this is the first time I know quite a bit of a game without actually having played it. The 100-year-old Japanese soldiers on that island are connected to a faction mission.
Yes, that particular faction mission is lots of fun, and the truck cargo delivery to the beach has been my all time favorite mission - I believe I mentioned it in another thread. In fact, this is the mission toat tipped the scales for me and made JC2 my favorite game.
All I could think was "whoa, that big tower sure is big!" (as in very tall) :)
Yes, those towers are high enough to give you vertigo! Also, you get to run between towers on the hige pipes or cables that connect them.
That island is cool. I can't recall if I posted this link but here is a quick vid of part of that faction mission. I needed to get from one tower to the next. My actual target was the smaller tower but knowing I'd eventually need to get to the big one last and not knowing if it'd be timed or not I decided to do some house cleaning first to make my way back up there a bit easier. This is me jumping from the tallest tower to a smaller one.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hBWzvu0lSE
oh YEAH! :) And that was just a small bit, 200 odd meters, I'd like to know how far it is down to the ground. Faceplant, anyone? :)
Good one, space! :-X
You do manage to capture good moments :)
A bit late... but terrific screenpics back there, PZ :-X
And another cool vid from space, nice one mate :-X
Thanks fragger! :)
Here are a couple that I took last night - a modded triggered charge (C-4).
The blast is so big, it knocked me down while I was standing on a tall building
[smg id=2238]
A couple more showing the blast sequence
[smg id=2237]
[smg id=2236]
That surely is a little over the top ;D ;D ;D :-X Nice screen captures there, PZ :)

lol, waaaay over the top to use in general game play. However, due to the way mods are installed (simply put them into the "dropzone" folder, it is easy to install/uninstall them. They don't change the game in any way (unless you're doing new textures)
that is very very cool, sounds like they really encourage modding!
Great looking expolsions in this game :-X :-X
Yeap... the explosions seems very nice indeed... I like the fire coming out from the black smoke!
Yes, very nice effects - slowly rolling smoke and flame.
A few snapshots:
When flying over an area, you can throw triggered charges (C-4) onto objects to detonate
[smg id=2257]
Hijacking a plane after completing an area
[smg id=2259]
A funny moment throwing a pilot out of his own plane
[smg id=2258]
The draw distance on those last two pics are really great... 8)
Thanks, JRD - I'm using a rather large wide screen monitor and use FRAPS to do the screen captures. Then using irfanview, it is an easy crop to the point of interest, which makes it much larger in the field of view. The added benefit is that it is a smaller file size - quicker to upload when on a slow Internet connection ;)
nice pics, PZ :)
Thanks, Art - that's part of the fun of playing on the PC - take a snapshot then alt-tab out to the desktop to post it, then return to Panau for more carnage. ;)
Some more great pics, nice ones, PZ :-X
The last one looks like the pilot is about to get sucked into that engine!
lol, you're right! Thanks for the comment fragger; the govmen make a funny scream that fades into the distance when they fall from height. ;D
Dang, I wish this game was first person, I don't suppose there's a mod for that?

Dang, I wish this game was first person, I don't suppose there's a mod for that?
You and me both! There is a mod for first person driving, but not fighting. I'm becoming accustomed to it though, because I received a taste of 3rd person in FO3 and most recently AC2 and Uncharted2.
Sometimes you can have more than one faction group working on your side when attacking govmen
[smg id=2280]
How many govmen do you see wired to objects?
[smg id=2281]
3
There are actually 6 - 4 relatively close and 2 quite far. If you look at the raw image in the gallery, 5 of the 6 are relatively clear, but one (near a truck in the distance) is difficult to see. :)
:)
By the way, apparently I can't take screenshots. IrfanView only captures them when I check the files (load/save) or the stats screens, but not during the game itself. PRNTSCR produces a black screen. Bah :(
FRAPS, my friend, FRAPS ;D
I've mapped the tilde key to the FRAPS screen capture on my G15
Seriously, maybe a W7 thing?
I don't think so, but who knows. I am too new to w7 to know, could be anything. If FRAPS was available in a regular shop, I'd instantly buy it.
One of these days soon I'm going to upgrade Vista64 to W7 on my gaming rig and see how it goes. I'll guess that it will w@&k even better.
I just had to stop and take this picture - it reminded me much spending time in Africa
[smg id=2307]
indeed, looks like the lake with the mortar guy, I can almost see the pipelines to the right in the back of the pic ;D

Mortar rounds coming down at ya and gunboats blasting off are missing though! ;D ;D ;D
Great picture :-X
Lovely sunset picture, like a postcard :-X :-X Well, maybe except for the armed man in the water ;D
LOL "Mum, look, uncle Sam sent us this postcard!" ;D
;D ;D

nice indeed :) I love it when the sky is dark blue and the clouds turn pink and orange. Wow. :)
Indeed - the colors of dawn and dusk are so realistic for me that I often want to have a cup of coffee at dawn, and a glass of wine at dusk. ;D
Consistent with vehicles and map positions are the faction colors:
- Reapers are red
- Roaches blue
- Ular Boys - yellow
[smg id=2407]
Faction leaders like you to retrieve certain items for them. These add to the chaos and $ you accumulate:
Reapers [smg id=2408]
Roaches [smg id=2409]
Ular Boys [smg id=2410]
Colonel Hamid Hitam was not having a good day shortly after this photograph was taken.
[smg id=2411]
Lol at Hamid Hitam's imminent demise ;D
Beautiful sunrise screenpics too, PZ. Or was it a sunset? Can't quite tell. Great shots, nonetheless :-X :-X

@JRD - LOL!! A bit of hot lead sure does weigh heavy upon one's mind from time to time.
LOL PZ&JRD ;D :-X
More faction fun using the faction mod
When I attacked a military installation, a few faction guys must have heard the commotion, because they stormed the installation to give me a hand. This one hopped up into a tank and began blazing away in my defense.
[smg id=2550 align=center width=400]
Once we were done with the military installation, me and my new friend hit the road looking for further trouble with the govmen.
[smg id=2549 align=center width=400]
Here we are in a fire fight on the streets of Panau - you can see a Land Rover to the left with 4 facboys in it, and the govman vehicle on the right. Another facboy tank is in front of me and my boy.
[smg id=2548 align=center width=400]
A faction helo decided to join the fight
[smg id=2547 align=center width=400]
My gunner kept up his end of the bargain, making short w@&k of the govmen headed our way.
[smg id=2546 align=center width=400]
A faction helo came screaming down and shot my gunner! I was sad to see my little friend's demise. He and I had been through so much together.
[smg id=2545 align=center width=400]
Nice story :) :-X Incredible how much action is going on there. ???
At a first glance I thought I was looking at a new collection of FC2 stamps. Quite tiny, hehe, a good test for a magnifying glass :-D
lol, that's why we have the zoomable OWG theme :-()
Lots of fun this new mod - here are a few more shots:
Here one of the facboy tanks took out the govman propaganda trailer - I didn't even need to fire a shot
[smg id=2551 align=center width=400]
A group of facboys are swiming - their vehicles went off the road and they decided to splash around for a while
[smg id=2552 align=center width=400]
Difficult to see - but the facboy vehicles are underwater
[smg id=2553 align=center width=400]
After I helped out a facboy, he ran toward a tank to get ready for more action
[smg id=2554 align=center width=400]
Once the facboy was in position, I entered as the driver, and away we went. :-()
[smg id=2555 align=center width=400]
;D I can see you're having fun :-X
Indeed I am - wandering the countryside is a whole new experience >:D
Here's an example of a vehicle full of facboys
[smg id=2556 align=center width=400]
Lots of my facboy friends wreaking havoc among the govmen
[smg id=2557 align=center width=400]
I've not noticed the Church before - probably too busy evading the govmen :-()
[smg id=2558 align=center width=400]
A group of facboys charging the govmen
[smg id=2559 align=center width=400]
In addition to the driver, we have 4 facboys riding "shotgun"
[smg id=2560 align=center width=400]
This is what happens when we encounter govmen :-()
[smg id=2561 align=center width=400]
When you're away for some time (I haven't played JC2 for some time) and then see those pics, you'll immediately think "wow, look at those colours" ;D
The church building can be found all over Panau :)
That mod there sure makes the game look like a movie. Great :) :-X
Thanks, Art - you can now watch it almost like a movie, except that you have the option of joining in. ;)
The adventure continues...
The Ular Boys are attacking my Reaper friends, who don't take kindly to their aggression.
[smg id=2567 align=center width=400]
The Ular copter is taking heavy damage - notice that it is unarmed except for the Ular boys within
[smg id=2568 align=center width=400]
I guess this fireball was inevitable - although I'll miss the Ulars
[smg id=2569 align=center width=400]
Those Reapers are kind of cold - after off-ing the Ulars, they casually left in their vehicles
[smg id=2570 align=center width=400]
This was an interesting group of thugs - notice that one of them is armed with a rocket launcher.
[smg id=2571 align=center width=400]
After I had hijacked a Ular bird, I landed it to see what the others would do - a Reaper entered and flew the copter away.
[smg id=2572 align=center width=400]
Battles become intense...
My boys are attacking the govmen behind me
[smg id=2574 align=center width=400]
It is nice to see how many faction buddies I have, some of them even armed with rocket launchers
[smg id=2575 align=center width=400]
Sometimes the faction helos land and even keep firing while on the ground
[smg id=2576 align=center width=400]
Unfortunately, this faction helo didn't make it.
[smg id=2577 align=center width=400]
Me and my friends attacking a military installation
[smg id=2578 align=center width=400]
[smg id=2579 align=center width=400]
looks like a lot of action and quite a lot of facboys. :) By comparison, my memories of the unmodded game make me wonder what it would be like to play with that mod, because it was kind of lonely. The few times a few facboys showed were nothing compared to this.
Exactly - the game is completely different when using this mod. In fact, of all the hundred mods I've used (in JC2 and FO3), this is probably the best because it changes the game so much in a positive way.
[smg id=3298 type=link align=center width=500 caption="JC2 pic002"]
This is how I like it best after having played through: A couple of mods that create peace and harmony and all that, in this pic you can see me sitting next to the govman driver. I wear a govman uniform and enjoy being chauffeured around. No shooting, no constant attacks, just cruising. Sometimes on my own, sometimes with someone who does the driving while I lean back and watch :)
Sounds like fun, but then again... so is an active fire fight >:D
That's the good thing about mods: You can replace them or remove them. If I feel like it was time to visit havoc upon Panau, I let go of the peace mod and make use of that monstrous rocket launcher. Unlimited ammo cheat activated, the fun is mine for hours on end >:D
I really like how easy it is to install/remove mods in JC2 :-X
Ahhhh yes.. good old JC2. The game world is impressive even today. FC3 is tiny by comparison. Here I'm getting used to the JC2 world again, exploring with a tiny aircraft. After the shot I had to wipe my breakfast off the windscreen :-()
[smg id=5764 type=preview align=center caption="2013 03 30 00003"]
Just one more, thinking how FC3 could have been so cool in a world like that.

Great pics, AB :-X +1
I still am very fond of JC2 and enter the game periodically. At the moment I'm in a new play through of AC3 because I downloaded the free DLC. Interestingly, Ubi provided this DLC at no cost, and it is not bogus Key activation of existing content. Each piece (there were three) were 1+ gb each.
thank you :) It's been a while.. but I enjoy returning to Panau once and then :)
Great pics guys...I still have this game installed on my pc...haven't played it in awhile...after seeing these screenshots...I may have to fire it up again...great game.
Still one of my favorites, and to me is still state of the art as far as game mechanics, graphics, and open world play.
agree :)
I'm getting my copy today
I don't think you'll regret it nex; I just started playing it again a couple of days ago, and am having a great time in Panau. The workd is massive, and it will take a long time to see it all. :-X

I most certainly do, particularly with a couple select mods that allow me to roam Panau without having to worry about anything and instead adding some fun factors ^-^
