Hey guys,

after my last massive problems I had with UBI and their so-called support (that was with Assassin's Creed Unity) I decided to never ever again buy anything from them.

However, I still have the games in my steam folder and steam occasionally offers updates. Today I saw a 5.9GB update for The Crew and allowed it to download (hey, only about 16 minutes for me, so why not..) and I checked the steam page to find out what I just downloaded. I'm not going to try it out any time soon as I would have to install my steering wheel and all that and I don't feel like it. I don't even know what they did but it doesn't sound good

In case the comments get banned or deleted, I try a copy-paste from what I can see there right now -- I was both grinning and sad reading those comments. They sound all too familiar..

I bought a season pass for absolutely nothing. Feeling so good right now...
Never again wasting money on Ubi$oft "games".

errible dlc...not impressed at all ... this treand in the gaming industry plopping out dlc after people spend a ton of money already shows the ethics of the distributors such as EA... the good old days when you buy a product and thats it ...is over...now you buy the core and spend 200x more than what the game is worth in dlc...no more money for you ubisoft..sorry but
i am requesting my money back and removing it from the pc... nice graphics but short fun factor..definitely not worth the money now

i bought season pass, and want me buy the another DLC...give me a break

So I buy the most expensive pack before the game itself comes out (season pass included) and now these Ubiscammers want me to pay another 30 euros for a DLC? Not buying an Ubi game ever again. I would rather keep feeding EA.

That's ridiculous - I don't know what those people are thinking especially after the excellent way they have released Syndicate (so far).

When I saw the name of this new topic, the first thing I thought was, "That'll grow into a nice long thread real quick" :-D

Bloody Ubi, they really know how to bilk their customers. I think they've got a damned hide with that DLC, judging by the comments posted above. Those gamers who bought the Gold edition especially have a right to be cranky :angry-new: So much for any benefits of paying a bit extra for a "Gold" edition from Ubi. What's the flipping point? You just get ripped off like everybody else, and pay more for the privilege.

Art Blade

I got the gold edition..

Quote from: Art Blade on December 01, 2014, 08:49:37 AMAnd yes, I bought the full load, gold, pre-order. :-()

Then I'd say you bought yourself a solid gold right to rant :-D

Art Blade

I believe you're right :)

And I too think that this topic has got "potential" -- quite a few posts to come, I'd say :-()

Binnatics

But this is a free DLC right? Or do you have to pay an additional amount to get it to w@&k?

I'll weigh in here with this.  When it comes to UBI products I've learned to hold back and await the reviews and inevitable screams about DLC.

"Did you buy the DLC for FC4?"  (Me answering) "Not Yeti."  ;)

FC5 held no interest for me.  Neither did the pirate scum story arc of Assassin's creed.  I've not even bothered to spend any time viewing play through videos of FC5 and very little of anything from AC since ACIII.  I'm so far out of the loop with the AC series Back Story that it would be a waste of time for me to try to pick it back up with that huge glaring sucking hole that's implanted in it by losing my interest in the characters.  (Have I mentioned that I know how to wipe the disease of piracy off the face of the Earth but no one is interested in taking the decisive steps required to do so?  ::) )

As far as complaining about UBI and abusive crap sales gimmicks it makes little sense to jump out of the way of bullets that are no longer being aimed at me.

I formerly purchased season passes, and now never do.  I simply play the game itself and forget about DLC unless it is free.

What makes me cranky is the fact that UBI just don't give a damn what people think

fragger

You're right nex, they don't. They know that if you want to play their games you have to jump through their hoops, and if you don't like it, stiff cheddar.

Best way to avoid the hoop-jumping is to not buy anything from them. If everyone did that Ubi would soon get the message. But everyone won't do that because they want to play the games and so they tolerate Ubi as a necessary evil.

Art Blade

I agree with nexor. The only time they reacted was when the stock market reacted to their Unity failure. The CEO promised a lot of things but after only a few weeks, when no longer in the focus of the public interest, they completely ditched those promises and went on they way they used to.

I talked to a friend who plays The Crew. The update apparently is mostly cosmetics and a weather system was introduced, too.

The season pass, also part of the Gold Edition, has EXPIRED. The new DLC and everything around it and from now on needs to be paid for.

AAAAAAAAAAARGH >:((

So they made you download 6 Gb of unaccessible crap??!!

That's the Ubi we know ^-^

I don't know for sure but it seems to be somewhat like that. It was apparently a patch for a DLC that I don't own and apparently would have to buy first. But it is supposed to add weather and perhaps some graphics updates to the "base" game.

I already have been so mad at UBI and the crap they threw at me that I just can't bring myself to fire up any of their games that I own.

By comparison, I have been happy with Rockstar and their games, GTAV being my all-time favourite with the most time spent on a single game ever -- over 2,400 hours during the last six months. Rockstar keeps throwing FREE updates that ADD A LOT OF NEW GOOD CONTENT which by UBI's standard would have been a series of DLC they'd require you to pay for -- for each and every one. Not Rockstar, they keep adding stuff the players are asking for and keep picking up ideas from the community that keep making it into new updates. They actually listen to their customers. And their support has been friendly and helpful -- I had three tickets and they all got solved with professional commitment. Rockstar is playing in the top league while UBI is just greedy and they like to slap their customers across the face while laughing at them.

Binnatics

I am glad I only bought 4 Ubi titles ever. And FC3 was the only one where I paid the full price. The rest; FC3 blood dragon, AC Black Flag and FC2 were from the bargain bin.

I must say FC3 didn't disappoint me. Neither did FC2. I paid 5 euros for the latter, and enjoyed the game a lot. Both Blood Dragon and Black Flag were a disappointment.

I realised in time it is, or has become, a s#!t company.  8)

On a side note, I really liked Watch Dogs (even though most people hated it), and am greatly looking forward to Watch Dogs 2.
