There is a mission late in the game whee you are to assault Ahmed in the Arsenal.  The mission starts with you outside the walls of the Arsenal, with two of your assassins.  You are to go in and get that bad guy.

However, if you leave the area, you can go into the city and the two assassins with you will go along.  Now you can cause all the trouble you want, and your faithful friends will assist you all along the way.

First PZ, I'd like to congratulate you on finding a wonderful way to corrupt and suborn the programmers' original intent for this feature of the game as it presented itself.   :bow  Truly an inspiring example of charting new limits in open world exploration.  Kudos! :-X

- Yeah... I remember those two (a tic rivaling that of Inspector Clouseau's boss starts uncontrollably spasming in the corner of my eye).  ???

I've always hated escort missions in games only this time for a twist I was being escorted.

I tried to play the mission straight but there was no option to instruct the personal escorts to "Wait" or "Stay here".  Everything I tried to do they kept jumping over the top of me and causing me more damage than the Templars could on their own.  It was like being one of three escapees from a chain gang manacled together making up a bad comedy act composed of Lou Costello, Jerry Lewis and myself.  :-\\

Make a dash across open ground to climb up a building just to find that one of them had reached the top first and was standing directly over me shifting side to side as I try to get around them so I couldn't pull up onto the roof.  Several times they kept me pinned like that until I'd been hit by a rock thrown from the ground spoiling the prime sync option of receiving no damage during the mission.

I would attempt to position myself on the overhang of a building's eaves so that I can target a group of unsuspecting guards on the ground with a call for arrow storm only to have Frick and Frack bracket me on either side squeezing in until they manage to push me off the building's roof and into the hands of an enthusiastic Templar lynch mob.  There was one disgraceful attempt through the mission where upon falling to the ground I was given zero "Hey! He looks familiar." warm up time seeing as how I'd landed directly on one of them and it was interpreted as an attack.  They were on me before I could stand up.   :'(

On what was easily my 12th attempt to get through that mission with no damage because of the interference of those two bone heads I switched tactics and as soon as I took damage I dropped to the ground and charged the guards directly in order to meet the 2nd possible method of meeting full sync by killing 5 guards in a row in melee without receiving any damage but there was no way to keep my entourage out of that effort either.  Every time I'd target a guard getting a couple good hits on him one of the two of them would come flying in knocking me out of the way and steal the kill.   :o   It was easy to see that I was quickly running out of groups of guards on my approach to Ahmed's location to try to meet sync.  Again I had to reset and start over.  :D

On one attempt I tried completing the area by making the long route around the arsenal area counter clockwise instead of the more direct clockwise path with a benefit that there's very few guards going this way but unfortunately I figured out later that this path automatically costs you the no damage sync option.  This route put me out on the open water hopping between some of the smaller boats with the consequence of having my buddies dump me into the drink more than once.  This is where the thought occurred to me that maybe I could drown them.   >:D

I set one of them up on the edge a pier and gave him a solid bump.  He unfortunately popped right back out of the water ready and eager to serve.  ::)

PZ If I don't try the tour of the city with the two of them in tow as you described the next time I hit that point of the game I'm seriously going to try killing them both with poison, bombs or a fall from a great height.  Something's got to do the job.   :-()

Thanks mandru - that kid of thing is one of my favorite things to do in a game.  Because I was wandering the streets and rooftops, my two buddies rarely got in my way as I let them do most of the fighting, so the end result was that I was able to have a different kind of fun cruisin' the streets.   :-()

Although I'm not positive, I think I went through that mission using my assassins to keep from taking personal damage.  I'd stand high on a building, and then send assassins down to do the dirty w@&k.  It takes a bit longer that way, but it is fun keeping hidden while my boys do their deeds.

(for some reason insert quote isn't working right now  ????)

For that mission that is a good approach.  You do have unlimited arrow storm available for that portion of the game.

great idea.  It's like subverting a mission in FC2!

I didn't know that - what a good place to complete one of the challenges, which requires something like 20-25 arrow storms.
