Title: ACU: Bugs And Glitches
Post by: PZ on November 12, 2014, 11:09:59 PM
We experienced a MP glitch in which we completed the mission and only needed to escape the area.  My son saw a completely normal environment while I saw disjointed parts with no way to escape - had to quit and lose the entire progression  :'(

Unfortunately, there are bugs and glitches.. well, let's collect them here. I magically made it so that PZ "started" this topic. :-()

PZ, that is horrible  :( I mean that bug, not the fact that I made you start this topic  :-()

My first glitch: Defying gravity, two people looked as if lying down on something but were floating in mid-air.

[smg id=7313 type=preview align=center caption="glitch 001"]

..and my second glitch (trying to climb down fast, I got caught by that glitch flailing my arms and legs in mid-air, stuck like that. I had to load a previous mission for a replay which I quit the moment it started so I was sent back to where I left off, this time near the original spot, on the ground.

I readabout a glitch where you "fall into the map" that seems to be widespread in ACU. Several players with an hour or so into the game reported that and many other glitches.

Ubi screwed up big time!!

That must have sting alot.

Lets wait and see, how much you paid per bug for the game

this is active beta-testing and on top we paid the full price >:((

I heard of game-breaking bugs where a player got stuck in the middle of a mission and he was unable to go on from there. Maybe it's something like my 2nd bug but I found a workaround. Basically quit and restart a mission, respectively load a previous mission just to quit it.

That's awful!

We lost an MP mission, and of course, it was after we had completed it  :D

I think I'll just run around Paris doing exploration, leveling up as much as I can, and simply get to know the place until Ubi gets another patch out, which I expect will be rather soon.

Who knows... maybe FC4 is in my near future after all  :D

I wonder how come they manage to release a broken game like this.  ????

Art just said they took 7 years developing the game - 7 freaking years!  ??? It takes some serious planning and project management. Multiple departments interconnected, a complex schedule and a budget.

It's as if there's a clause in a contract that says they HAVE TO release a game right before December in order to make it to the holidays shopping season and if they don't a huge fine will be applied to the company. So a fancy suit behind a desk start making phone calls and rush the game out of production based on a legal condition that has nothing to do with the w@&k done by the rest of the team for the past 7 years. I bet that if you could ask one programmer or developer if they would like to hold back the game release for a couple months they'd say "Yes, we want to deliver somethig finished to our customers". As it stands now, Ubi already stained their name on the market and is likely to face a law suit.

Because there is no one to stop them.

They probably have think tanks where they discuss the damage to their image versus profits, and how to mitigate those damages while maximizing their holiday potential.

This is a bit of good news

Ubi to change it's policies on how they interact with the public (http://www.gamespot.com/articles/in-wake-of-assassin-s-creed-unity-issues-ubisoft-c/1100-6423577/)

YAY, Ubisoft has found that there is a information superhighway called the "Internets"  :D

Most likely someone stepped out of the box in that place and realised that they can actually communicate with the outside world.

This has always been take case with Ubi, they don't give out information regarding problems, downtimes, malfunctions or anything related to their games, sometimes the version logs are more like "1 bug fixed" but nobody would even know what the bug was, or was it a feature that wasn't even supposed to be fixed (Sub culture game in the 1997...)

hadn't happened to me at all, coop worked nicely, too. The only bugs so far are the very first two in this topic.

Well, sometimes the game freezes on me for say 5 seconds but continues just fine. That was already the case before patch2.

Game Breaking Bug
In the middle of my free roaming a silhouette popped up (you can disable that) which was a player asking me to join an ongoing coop mission to which I agreed. However, some time in the middle of the coop, my game crash-froze so I had to use the task manager to get out.

After a restart, the game option "continue" (your only career save game) tried to load the savegame but in the middle of it, it crash-froze. Tried it again, crash-froze again.

In other words, my career was gone.

Solution

I have been making backups after every significant event (31 backups now)

Path for UBI's savegames:
hd:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\<your random number>\857\

Step 1:

In the U-Play setup, disable cloud save (otherwise it will keep downloading the corrupt savegame)

Step 2:

Replace the files "1" and "2" with your backup files

Step 3:

Better be safe than sorry -- use your backup career and thank yourself for having made those.. game on. :)

Sorry to hear of your problems, AB - it is always disheartening to lose your progress.

Thanks for posting your backup solution - how exactly are you backing the file up?
Title: Re: ACU: Bugs And Glitches

copy - paste.

Copy the files from the original savegame folder to somewhere else.

And right now, I'm done with the game until they come up with a new patch.  >:((

It doesn't matter what I do now, I used various savegame backups and it keeps randomly crashing. The last thing I tried was a savegame from before upgrading a massive armour coat for 140,000 livres. I tried to play the story mission and eventually randomly crashed. I used it without going for the main mission, accepted a 5-diamonds coop game, we were JUST about to go to the finish of it, basically successfully done, when my game crashed on me.

The save game size seems to be always 75,xxx bytes after a crash. The other savegames started with 40k and are usually now 61k but the crash save is 75k.

For some reason I can't play this game without crashing anymore, and I haven't changed a thing about my configuration. >:((

Quotegame-breaking crash causing corrupt savegame

Guys.. I can't play any more. My career (savegame) doesn't load anymore.. I tried a backup, happened again. Different backup, still a new random crash. Always corrupting the savegame. I played like 45 hours without any problems and haven't changed a thing. I'll send you my savegames so you may analyse them. Please fix it :) Thanks

maybe this fatal bug is related to patch1.2.0 aka patch 2, some of the posts at the steam forum suggest that. Just as I jinxed, they fixed something but broke something else.

I just updated my ticket with UBI support

QuoteI suspect it is due to "patch2" -- with version 1.1.0 I had no problems but 1.2.0 seems to be the only explanation since I haven't changed anything. By the way, I made savegame backups from the start, about 35 different stages. If you need anything, please let me know. Thanks

Maybe a bug that was introduced in an earlier save?

That's really bad news about the patches that break things.  Likely it has to do with the save game, and maybe starting anew would be the fix.  Not that I am suggesting it on your part, but the original bug might be so severe that the save based on that version might no longer be compatible with the current patch.  I would think that Ubi would build in some kind of legacy routine for current saved games.
Title: Re: ACU: Bugs And Glitches

Yep, they should. It's unreasonable to expect players to have to abandon their existing playthroughs because of "fixes" to problems that shouldn't have been there in the first place.

I actually use a software called RadeonPro, that has a feature that runs scripts pre-start and post-finish, so I have made a javascripts for all of my active games to backup the saves if the system hasn't reported that the game which was started didn't encounter an error when exiting.
Also the script will bring the computer to full power status, normally I run my CPU at 1600mhz and R9 290 at GPU at 300mhz and memory at 150mhz, just to save some power, and also I can pretty much run the computer without the watercooling/memory/HDD fans being on, Silence is golden.

So true - silence is golden.  My fans come on even when I play FC2.  Doesn't matter that much because I use headphones, but not that pleasant none the less.

Although we had a mission breaking glitch, all we needed do was restart the mission and all was okay.  I was playing with my son and another guy, and we were doing a 4-person co-op mission when I jumped down to assassinate a sniper on a balcony.  I landed within the wall, and could not get out, so I had to abandon the mission.  However, my partners were able to complete the mission and gain their rewards.  No big deal to me though, because I can go through the mission again in the future and have just as much fun.

A slight annoyance, but not a deal breaker.
Title: Re: ACU: Bugs And Glitches
Post by: Stiku on November 16, 2014, 12:05:54 AM
Sure that was a bug and not an assassins tactic to "become the wall"

What I've read on the ubi forums is that when the game crashed it means that your saves go with it.
Title: Re: ACU: Bugs And Glitches
Post by: PZ on November 16, 2014, 12:12:13 AM
  :-X

I think that happened with AB, but my game didn't actually crash, but I became stuck in a spot in which I could not escape.  Maybe that makes a difference, but I have no idea.  However we were able to restart the mission after we had done another or two, and everything went fine the second time through.

Funny thing - we were in a different co-op mission when other strange things occurred, but we were all able to go through to the finish and all went well in the end.  While it was not perfect fun to experience the glitches, the overall experience was good none the less.
Title: Re: ACU: Bugs And Glitches
Post by: Art Blade on November 16, 2014, 04:20:50 AM
I found out that backup #28 worked. Out of 32, which was the last one before the crash. The other backups caused the game to crash eventually.

Nevertheless.. the fear remains that I might do something that causes a new crash, which obviously wouldn't be my fault because a game is supposed to w@&k. Also, progress made like until the major crash will be lost. I lost a 140k armour and coop game experiences and prize items.. can't just undo that.

Like you, PZ, I came across weird things in coop, basically game breakers as in a mission objective couldn't be achieved as it didn't trigger. I got booted out of two coop missions without explanation or warning, landing in my SP game without knowing what the hell just happened. During other coop games, four players were there but the next objective wouldn't trigger, one guy left the game and, ding! there was the objective and the remaining three guys could continue and a new guy joined. Stuff like that.

I updated my ticket with UBI support and submitted save game files again that should interest them.

QuoteI found a backup that seems to w@&k. I could do the main story mission now that previously kept crashing. Before, it also crashed during free roam. I think you might be interested in comparing that savegame that works and another one that you can load but will cause a crash.
Title: Re: ACU: Bugs And Glitches
Post by: Binnatics on November 16, 2014, 05:56:46 AM
The coop glitches remind me of the ones in Far Cry 3 coop; mission goals not triggering, getting kicked out without reason...
The game crashing and destroying savegame bug sounds awful. Takes away all the fun in gaming, if you know any progress is insecure until you make your own backups.  :-\\
Title: Re: ACU: Bugs And Glitches
Post by: Art Blade on November 16, 2014, 06:02:51 AM
the problem is to go backwards in your backups, load, play and.. crash. Finding the right one takes time and you still don't know whether or not it's going to happen again. Makes it feel completely insecure about "can I really keep this?"

The bug section is almost four times the size of the fun section. Ubi got some catching up to do, especially with those savegame bugs. I hope they fix that soon, so you won't be so busy 'outside the game' anymore.

And yep, I remember those, Stiku ;)
Title: Re: ACU: Bugs And Glitches

god damn it. Had another crash with a corrupt savegame as the result. I'm not sure but it is either u-play interfering (I bought an upgrade and then the game told me that I had been disconnected from u-play but the game required being connected to it, or it is buying certain 5-diamond items, or participating in coop games. The first crash I reported here was after purchasing a particular coat. Now I have a different one, works, participated in a coop, was ok, but then I bought a new gold-plated pistol for the first time and.. later it crashed during free-roam. Now I am using the savegame that I was able to finish a story mission with, did not buy new gear nor participate in coop and.. strangely enough, I was able to continue with the story.

That's unacceptable.
Title: Re: ACU: Bugs And Glitches

Title: Re: ACU: Bugs And Glitches

That truly is unacceptable, AB  You should at least be able to play the game without it crashing.  A certain amount of bugs is to be expected, I guess, but crashing should have been worked out a long time ago.

On the console, I do not even have the option to save a game to another location, so if my game becomes corrupt, I'm screwed.

It might indeed have to do with Uplay connectivity. What you describe about savegames of a constant amount of memory not making sense to the progress may as well be some sort of anti-hack thing that gets triggered by losing connection to Uplay. Maybe Uplay then thinks you cheat and corrupts your savegame.  ????
Or maybe it's a bit over the top paranoid thinking of me, which is what usually happens when confronted with these types of problems.

Oh, what PZ suggested makes indeed more sense. Hope it works, matey!

thanks, so far, so good. But I don't trust this :-D The next coop or the next upgrade or the next u-play disconnect or WHATEVER IT IS... If they don't bloody fix it, I will certainly feel the Barbarian in me wanting to kick a sword up the arse of the one responsible, kick it up so hard that the tip pokes an eye out. I lost about 50 hours due to that crap, and the club is probably gone or inaccessible, too, now.

From what I've read here so far it seems Ubi dropped the ball before the game even started and can't pick it up again without fumbling it :D Thoroughly inadequate pre-release testing of the PC version, evidently.

And it's obviously not just you Art - judging by the number of user complaints there are major probs with the PC game. The very fact that a topic was started about it here is pretty telling. This really is a poor showing from Ubi.

It may have to do with u-play. When I start u-play in offline mode, it doesn't seem to crash anymore. I found that tip on UBI forums. Apparently there are more players affected by that bug. Thanks

I'm sorry to say that even the older backup that was supposed to w@&k eventually crashed and got corrupted. I have lost about 50 hours which I spent building that career, a full-blown 5-diamond legendary outfit character with quite a bit of coop experience and all the rewards for that.. gone. Please.. find a fix for that. Thanks

I found a backup that seems to w@&k. I could do the main story mission now that previously kept crashing. Before, it also crashed during free roam. I think you might be interested in comparing that savegame that works and another one that you can load but will cause a crash.

You wrote    2014-11-16 10:02 GMT
(I accidentally closed the previous ticket because there is no "back" button so I have to repeat the ticket) Guys..
I suspect it is due to "patch2" -- with version 1.1.0 I had no problems but 1.2.0 seems to be the only explanation since I haven't changed anything. By the way, I made savegame backups from the start, about 35 different stages. If you need anything, please let me know. Thanks

Does the response above address your concern?
YES NO

We will assume your issue has been resolved if we do not hear from you within four days.

Kind regards,
Ubisoft Customer Service

My response (back at UBI support en-GB):

QuoteFirst of all, thank you for your quick response.
What I don't get is, how can you reply in English letting me know that you received my request but then continue to reply in German to a question that was obviously written in English, also the URL I used was support.ubi.com/en-GB/ (could as well have been en-US)? Does that mean that you didn't get what I want and randomly picked a reply in German? Also you changed my subject to something else, why would you do that? You didn't seem to understand the problem at all so please try again.
Thank you.

What they told me in that mail, the German part, was to make a backup of my savegame (THE CORRUPTED SAVEGAME THAT IS ALSO AVAILABLE AS A CLOUD BACKUP? plus, HOW do a backup? They didn't say. Oh, I have a backup.. right.. then why would I want to make another one??) and uninstall the game, u-play and the ubi game launcher and then do a fresh install of all three. Hey.. it was a steam installation.. I downloaded 37GB in 7.5 hours, waited another 25 minutes for the decryption.. now it will be 55GB download.. hell, what is wrong with them, and the game launcher comes with steam, anyway.. and  WHY uninstall u-play.. it was FINE before they patched it, it still is fine with other games such as AC4BF!

Hehe, They must have transferred you to German support who then replied to you in german.

Just a quick note, steam doesn't deliver unpacked content, everytime you download a game, its packed and then extracted once the download is finished this is to save bandwidth on the server.

unreleased content is also crypted when delivered, but encryption takes alot more time to decypher than just extraction.

yep..  :-() Told you, here is "the only forum I decided to register with" which also means, the only forum that I decided to post on.

I wanted to help inflate their forums regarding the number of customers complaining about catastrophic bugs.

The forums are indeed filling up with topics and posts regarding the crashing and corrupt savegames on one hand and going offline and not experience any crashes on the other hand. Apparently the current standard reply from UBI support is "uninstall and reinstall" and people are complaining about that, too.

Well, I'm certainly glad you found your way here!

Ubi's solution is just a band-aid to help people feel better about doing something rather than nothing.

Thank you very much :) And I'm certainly glad this place has existed :-D

Yep, UBI does what every support does until they have an actual solution.

I tried online today and almost immediately the game crashed. I set u-play to offline and started the game again and of course, it has worked -- I'm still constantly making backups.

Probably not worth even starting co-op until Ubi releases their next mega patch.  Interestingly, their patches to fix the game are larger than the file size of other entire games.

Just goes to show you how massive the game is.
Title: Re: ACU: Bugs And Glitches

What they should have mentioned, instead of giving a non-solution, is:
"Thank you Mr. Blade for the save game file. We are aware of said trouble and are working on a solution. Your help by sending in a save game is much appreciated. As soon as we find a solution we will publish it here on the forums. Kind regards, etc."

That's proper and fair customer support. And a lot easier than the crap they sent to you. I believe Rockstar did that; honestly stating that they do have a problem with the multiplayer connectivity in GTA V and don't have the solution yet.
I heard that Rockstar has problems with the transferring of older online profiles to the new versions. Again, they don't have the solution yet, but are working on it.

I can imagine that you don't have the slightest belief in the solution they offered you, and are even less willing to check it out. I wouldn't either. It's definitely a Uplay problem, and if it keeps only affecting PC gamers it will probably not be fixed very quickly :-\\

Hope for the best...

You are probably right. On the other hand... I experienced Uplay bugs for more than a year until it finally started acting the way it should... the problems weren't that extreme though... only like; "overlay not functioning", "not being able to invite friends", "countless connection losses in MP", "disabling Steam overlay functionality", "making Steam think I stop playing the game right after I start it"... Etcetera ::)
And some are still bugging me even now, that's one of the reasons why I did not push through in Blood Dragon, which was a disaster by the way :D

I just checked my mail and look what we got:

Dear customer,

Due to the country you selected, you have been forwarded to the German support site.

If you would prefer to receive assistance in another language, we will forward your incident to a native speaker of your preferred language.

However, the best and fastest way for us to offer you the optimal support would be if we continued our correspondence in the German language.

Please let us know in which language you would like to proceed.

Best regards,

OK.. I can tell by the grammar "choices" that <redacted> is not a native speaker indeed. What I don't get is why they are asking me WHICH LANGUAGE I WOULD PREFER -- I should reply in Spanish and tell them que me gustaría hablar con alguién que sabe como se trata a clientes que les escriben en inglés. >:((

Now I'll have to update the ticket again and tell them that I wish to communicate in English, please.  ???

The "best" bit is the German part at the end. It tells me that I if I wanted support in German it would of course be alright to reply in German and in that case I was asked to articulate accurately and precisely my problem again. :D

Alright, here we go, round 2. :-D

Today I got a new mail from UBI support. Germany.
??? :'( :D

Quote<redacted> @ Ubisoft Support    2014-11-19 17:04 GMT

??? ??? ???

Didn't they ask me WHICH LANGUAGE I'D PREFER??? And, DIDN'T I TELL THEM?

Besides, what they wrote is nonsense. It tells me to make a backup and to create an offline savegame which will differ from the one in their cloud (the corrupted one) and then go online with cloud sync so I'd be presented with "your local file differs from the cloud file, please choose which one to use" and then I'm supposed to choose "cloud" and guess what.. it doesn't w@&k. It's exactly what I did when I first happened upon the problem. Also, I told them that they changed the subject. It is not so much about a corrupted savegame (I don't see a message "corrupted") but the fact that I can't LOAD the savegame without crashing the program. I told them that.

OK, time for round 3 :-()
Title: Re: ACU: Bugs And Glitches
Post by: Art Blade on November 19, 2014, 02:21:53 PM
I just replied.

QuoteThank you for your reply.

In your previous reply YOU asked me WHICH LANGUAGE I would prefer and OBVIOUSLY it is not German but ENGLISH!
In your previous reply YOU suggested that you would FORWARD IT TO A NATIVE SPEAKER -- which you did, a German native speaker. I thought that you would by now have come to the conclusion that it is WASTED EFFORT AND TIME on your side as well as mine because WE DON'T SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE!

Now I kindly ask you to forward this to your SUPERIOR and let's see whether or not my request will be forwarded to UBI support US or where ever it is closes to those people who are working on a solution.

I have to point out that you seem to have misunderstood my original problem and then changed the subject according to your understanding. I never saw a message telling me my savegame was corrupt. It was a logical deduction because when I loaded my savegame, the game froze. It turned out that ACU.EXE had STOPPED WORKING every time I tried to LOAD a savegame. Apparently it is NOT the savegame itself because IT WORKS when going OFFLINE. The moment I try to synchronise it with the cloud, I get the same problem as before: the game crashes while loading the savegame. So I reckon that it is not so much the savegame but SOMETHING WITH U-PLAY.

I very much hope that you now understand the problem.

As to the QUESTION you want me to ask: HOW CAN I GET A WORKING ONLINE GAME THAT SAVES CORRECTLY AND LOADS CORRECTLY?

Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Art Blade.

QuoteYou might as well tell them that you're Dutch. Tell them that you live near the border, and that you bought German internet since it's cheaper (or something). I can give you the quote in Dutch if you want :-D

I think you will have more fun when you make fun of them, than to let them pretend to take you serious ;)

The quote is my message that I wrote before you posted your reply. I think due to not being in the middle of the Ubi s#!t I can still see the fun in this. I hope you can, too. And since you still have a SP campaign going on that works fine I think you do indeed ;)
Just keep it coming 8)

yep, I am relaxed.  :)

Oh, I'm not going to lie  :)

I think that my man on the German support team who is responsible for that ticket will start to show up red on their lists of solved and not solved tickets. If he's halfway clever, which doesn't appear to be the case so far, he will follow my suggestion to show this to his superior. Or, make the decision all by himself, forward it to a corresponding English support team. It would be an easy solution for him, "done" by just forwarding it away from his responsibility.

QuoteAn Update on Assassin's Creed Unity from Yannis Mallat

The launch of Assassin's Creed Unity was a highly-anticipated moment for me and for our development teams around the world who dedicated a tremendous amount of energy, passion and skill to the game's creation. For us, it was the culmination of years of w@&k on new technologies, the development of multiple innovations -- including an all-new game engine -- and an evolution of the Assassin's Creed franchise's core pillars. More importantly, we know that it was a highly-anticipated moment for many of you as well, as you looked forward to taking part in the first truly next generation Assassin's Creed game.

Unfortunately, at launch, the overall quality of the game was diminished by bugs and unexpected technical issues. I want to sincerely apologize on behalf of Ubisoft and the entire Assassin's Creed team. These problems took away from your enjoyment of the game, and kept many of you from experiencing the game at its fullest potential.

We've been working hard to fix the problems players are reporting, and the patches we have released so far have resolved many of them. Today, we're releasing our third patch, which fixes a variety of specific issues related to the game's stability and performance, matchmaking and connectivity, gameplay and menus. You can find the release notes on that patch here: Patch 3 Notes

To show our appreciation for your continued support, we're making the upcoming Assassin's Creed Unity Dead Kings DLC free for everyone. For Season Pass holders, we will also offer the choice of one additional game from a selection of Ubisoft titles for free. More details on the offer for Season Pass holders can be found here: AC Unity FAQ

In addition to the latest patch and this offer, we are committed to delivering further fixes for other issues you've raised. In the meantime, please keep your feedback coming – it has been both humbling and incredibly helpful as we continue working hard to improve the overall quality of the game. We are hopeful that with these forthcoming updates, everyone will be able to truly enjoy their Assassin's Creed Unity experience.

We will continue striving to make Assassin's Creed one of the most ambitious and innovative franchises on the market, and we thank you for your continued loyalty and support.

There is one interesting twitch, only the German news contains it (about the season pass)

Translates to

Is the season pass still available? Why not?

We are discontinuing the distribution of the season pass. Because the DLC "Dead King" will be accessible to everyone for free, the original season pass does no longer represent an adequate  additional value to the player. All Assassin's Creed Unity customers may still purchase additional content that used to be part of the season pass and holders of the season pass will automatically be granted access to said added content, including Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China.

So basically, you purchased a free DLC for let's say €30,- and therefore you are now given the option to get an additional game? Well, lucky you that FC4 was available :)

Funny thing - a repeat of what h append to me with FC2.  The latest patch made the game worse for me.  Now free run in not nearly so good.  Man more mistakes, much like all the other AC games - now feels almost clunky,

hmm. I still have to find out, just downloaded the "patch 300" for PC,  1.5GB

As to FC4: I bought ACU gold for 80€, still get access to the upcoming DLC as a season pass holder, got all the freebies for the pre-purchase, and get a 60€ game on top. Basically 80=2x40€, as in ACU for 40€ with everything included, and FC4 for 40€, which is a reasonable price for these two and all that is included with it.

BLOODY HELL! THEY ACTUALLY SEEM TO HAVE FIXED IT! ??? :-X

My game didn't crash when I went online and it actually loaded my savegame that I know crashed the last time I tried. Now I'll have to wait and see whether or not the game stays that way without crashing on me out of the blue.

Cheers mate :) I've played online coop so far without crashes. Just a few minor glitches but hey, that's acceptable for me. Nothing game-breaking or mission-breaking. The saves w@&k, the load w@&k, progress works.. hell, I've been kind of rained down on with rewards and whatnot  :-D
But it feels strange now, like, I don't quite trust that peace yet ;)

It's like anything that's been repaired by people you don't know - you wonder for a while if the fix will hold and keep expecting it to break again. Trust will only come over time :-()

I guess so :-D

What PZ experienced on the PS4 does not necessarily apply to the PC. My game feels good, actually a bit more fluid when moving around, only the parry seems to be a bit unreliable when fighting multiple enemies but that might just as well have been like that even without the patch. I'm very content with the patch so far. :-X

Good to know that you can finally fully enjoy the potential of the game.  :)

It only costed them 15 days after all to fix the main issues, so that isn't all that bad ;)

Looks like your patch was over a gb smaller than the one for the PS4!  ????  All that time and trouble downloading it and it did nothing for me that I can detect.

yesterday during coop, there was one first-time frame rate drop down to perhaps 1 frame every 2 or 3 seconds and it wouldn't recover.. had to alt-f4 out of the game.  >:(

QuotePatch 4 Release Notes [UPDATED]

As part of our ongoing efforts to provide the best experience for our players, we will be releasing Patch 4 for Assassin's Creed Unity today. This patch is mainly focused on alleviating performance issues and improving the overall experience.

Part of the team's effort to enhance frame rate for players involves replacing and updating portions of the Paris city map where we are seeing issues. This explains the large size of this title update (6.7 GB). However, since a large portion of the patch replaces existing files the net increase to the game's overall size will be less than 6.7 GB.

Patch 4 delivers a variety fixes including:

• Performance & Stability: Frame rate drops, game crashes, lost progression

• Gameplay: Navigation, lock picking chests

• Online: Connectivity, matchmaking, companion app

This Patch is rolling out to Xbox One and PS4 players today and will be available later in the week on PC. You can find the full patch notes here.

Update 16/12, 5:15pm PST:

We have received and confirmed reports that some Xbox One players who have previously applied Patch 3 are seeing a 40GB download instead of the expected 6.7GB download. Unfortunately, an issue with the patch downloading process is replacing the entire game instead of just the parts affected by the patch. This is obviously not the expected behavior, and we apologize that many of you will have to wait longer than expected to complete this download. This issue isn't causing any other problems and once the download is completed players will have the most-up-to-date and fully patched version of Assassin's Creed Unity.

We are working with Microsoft on a solution to reduce the total download to the intended size so that you can get back into the game faster, but as of now we have no ETA on when this will be resolved.

Currently there is one known workaround: Owners of the disc version of the game can uninstall the game and reinstall it. On starting the game, the patch process will start with the correct download size.

We will continue to update this blog post as we learn more.

Thank you for your support and continued feedback. Your contributions have been key to the development of our patches.

Now this is starting to piss me off. The key operative in the announcement is the word "fixed".  They are not adding anything new, no real added value to the game other than items repaired that never should have been released to begin with.  Virtually all of their "patches" are larger in size than the entire game was in the past.  Sure, game size is directly related to the graphics, but this is absurd.

To add icing to the stupidity - they cannot even program the patch correctly - REALLY? the patch is as big as the entire game for xbox users?

This is just further (and absolute) evidence that they rushed the game to market for Christmas, and they knew all the time that their product is an alpha version being released to the public.

If they had advertised the fact that this was an alpha, I never would have purchased to begin with, but they don't care.  They would rather get my money NOW even though they know it will piss me off.  I still would have eventually purchased the game so they would still have received my hard earned cash, but they are so f$%king greedy, they needed it NOW.  In fact, had I known it was an alpha, with full knowledge that it might require gigabytes worth of patches, I STILL might have purchased it.

The bottom line is that they are dishonest, and I'll not purchase another game from them again until it is proven that the game is in it's final stage rather than alpha or beta.  The consequence is that I might never purchase one of their games depending on the reports of game play.

In the end, at least from this single gamers perspective, they will lose money in the long run.

This goes from the sublime to the ridiculous ??? So, now what? They have to do a repair job to fix the repair job?

"This is obviously not the expected behavior".

Gee, you think?

just a few words on the support ticket which I closed after the patch had solved my problems:

I asked them to forward it to an English support team and never heard from them again. 10 days after the patch, I received an email from an "English coach" (meaning, I was still with the German support) and his English wasn't impressive (quite a few errors) and on top, 10 days AFTER closing the ticket.

I will not try to contact support again.

Heheh,

All this reminds me of the first Street Fighter game: "Uh-s#!t... oooh yoU-s#!t!" ^-^

Spoiler
Funny, that's what I made of it, through the cheap soundcard of the first generation nintendo consoles. It is actually written as "Hadoken, Shoryuken" which means "wave" (referring Ryu's fireball attack) and "Rising dragon punch" (referring to Ryu's jumping uppercut)

thank you for the info, Stiku :)

The patch actually fixed several bugs for me:

- I had collected all 100 cockades but it didn't unlock a colour scheme reward (for clothes). Now OK
- I couldn't purchase ANY weapon after patch4 nor access club competition prize weapons. Now OK
- The club members list showed only the name of the player who looked it up (like, I saw 30+ times my own name or if you looked at it from your PC, you'd see 30+ times your name). Now OK
- game used to randomly freeze for up to 15 seconds with sometimes only minutes between freezes, now it seems to be fixed (hasn't occurred since patch5)

just because I said I wouldn't give UBI any money anymore due to their fucking bug collection called game when released, I wouldn't buy it again. However, from your point of view, go get it and spend as much as you think it's worth. It still is an amazing game and the most brutal bugs have been fixed.

Thanks - I was wanting to get bargain basement prices.  It is currently $30.  I did like the PS4 version because the graphics were so good, and the game play reasonable.  However, I remember that I had very few bugs, and none of them real deal breakers - I was more concerned about the PC version, and if they got it fixed.

I think I'll just be satisfied with GTAV and ArmA3 right now.  Even FC4 is not cheap enough - was $29 last time I checked.
