Man... that's one scary game, I tell you that!!!  :(

It just scared twelve shades of living s#!t out of me!!!  :(

I've been trying to save Mole's @ss and actually managed to do so. As a reward (I guess) he pointed me to an underground tunnel system that leads me right into the Agroprom facility where I should steal some docs.

Shot down some foes and one invisible creature... but as I walk towards the end of the tunnel to go up again I face this weird beast... don't know what the heck it is, but it makes a scary sound and mess up with my brain...
All I can see is a zooming image towards this creature and a loud sound... my eyes get blurred, images get doubled, I got dizzy and can´t fire!!!... I try a little more and end up dead... brain fries!!

In SoC, when you die, you can still move the camera around you, so you know what hit you... and there it is... a little wrikly man at the end of the tunnel... walking towards my dead body... AND IT STARTS EATING ME!!!!
Geez..........................................  :(

ROFL You better carry some mustard and catchup in your pockets, next time. You don't want to taste bad, do you  ;D

Maybe you can eat him, next time  ;D

That is the dreaded "Controller" first time I went up against it think it took about 10 - 12 re-loads to kill it. That psionic attack he has is nasty, if he hits you with it first your almost certainly doomed, by the time you recover from it and can raise your gun he is already doing it to you again.
Got a one word solution for you - RUN !

Way to beat him is run to the ladder at the end of that tunnel, there is a slight bend to it which prevents it using its power (needs line of sight), then keep throwing grenades back down the tunnel towards it and if needed finish it of with some hot lead.

Alternatively you can just be chicken and climb the ladder. Nice surprise for you at the top ;D

And run is what I did... but as I climbed the ladder I had jumped from the pan into the fire  :(

Couldn't cope with being surrounded by foes on an enemy base, so I went back down the ladder, and guess who was waiting for me then?!?!?!  :D

It took me lots of tries to kill it, but I did and moved away...I can still hear the eerie sound it makes, plus the noise from anomalies down into the tunnels!!

Thing is... I went to the surface and attacked the base old style... Loner vs Pack-O-Foes  ;D ;D... and as I started walking away of the base with the documents I got a message "Save Mole"... either that dumb prick is in trouble again or the game is bugged... anyway I'm screwed...

I shouldn't be reading this topic just before I go to bed ::)

JRD, I really like it when you are describing situations which did upset you a little, LOL  ;D I can tell, when you are calling people names  ;D ;D ;D

Fragger, what could possibly happen? That you wake up and realise you killed your pillow?  ;D

He could have some freakish nightmare that his pillow is killing him, only to be found days later with half the pillow down his throat. (Did he eat the pillow or did the pillow choke him?)

Some of the scariest moments I had playing SoC were when travelling (usually to finish a mission with a time limit) at night, when its pitch black and the moonlight is hidden by clouds every little sound could be a potential threat, didn't need monsters or nutters with bigger guns and armour to scare me, became good at jumping at my own shadow, come to think of I actually shot my own shadow as a nervous reflex the first time I played Arma 2 :-[  ( well with all that rough ground and patchy grass I thought it was a well camouflaged enemy)

I've done that! Shooting my own shadow ;D Some games make you jumpy. And Stalker really is one of those :)

Reminds me of DOOM 3. The monsters had a habit of waiting just behind the door you were opnening and scaring the living daylights out of you, in the end I got into the habit of equipping my shotgun and firing a shot roughly where there heads would be if there were any waiting on the other side.  ::) I cant´t tell you how good it felt everytime I managed to blow some monsters head off that way.  ;D

Art Blade

sounds good  ;D I remember that one particular episode in OFP2 when I had to escort a group of people through the mountains, "avoiding enemy contact." A peaceful and abandoned looking wooden house seemed to invite us for a rest, I led all of my men there. They must have been inside already while I rounded the house for the mountain view. On the other side of the house were two enemies... what a shock, for the three of us. Well, I got myself killed then. The funny part: After reloading, I went into the house again, aimed my gun at the door where I guessed the head of one of the enemies was, and indeed shot him through the door (great to hear the response on the other side)  ;D That felt good, too  ;D

The way I defeat the first Controller in the Underground is to start advancing down that tunnel until the moment the Controller spawns, at which point I book it back and stab the Controller in the face! Works like a charm, most of the time. ;)

Art Blade

hahaha, that sounds like a good idea  ;D :-X

I gotta say, though, the first time I encountered a Controller really freaked me out. :-[ ???

Art Blade

Good game, isn't it  ;D CS kind of freaked me out, too, made me jump when some beast stared me in the eye at night.
