I'll start with a sniper that can't get off his balcony in that private property. Unless... unless you send a hand grenade up. :) When he came sailing by, I thought, "nice one, mate" ;D
[smg id=1806 align=center width=400]

Nice one! I need to use the GL a bit more.
simple hand grenades, mate, simple hand grenades :) You will always have a couple to share with our fellow mercs ;D
Although the merc who drove that jeep has already landed, the Jeep made the biggest jump I've ever seen so far. Imagine, that thing is already on its way down! Down left of the Jeep you can see the black mark on the road where the hand grenade hit.
[smg id=1809 align=center width=400]
Two more classic examples of "Art-w@&k" - great screenies, mate :-X :-X The merc flying off the balcony is a ripper!
I've seen a number of airborne mercs/vehicles over time, I just need to practice hitting the capture key quicker.
Thank you, fragger :)
I use a Logitech G15 programmable keyboard, and I simply mapped the PRNTSCR key to the programmable G6 key which is left of my left CTRL key. Like that, I can hit it almost immediately with my left little finger (not necessarily the tip, more like the left side of my hand and finger)
Still, I don't always manage to do that in time ;) The good thing is, once you hit the screenshot key, the game freezes for a moment, enough time to hit the key again a few times, giving you kind of a sequence. That balcony "jump" picture is one out of three I managed to capture ;D
Found a screenshot I had posted earlier, but it fits even better into this topic. The pic was taken in Sefapane... Nice jump :)
[smg id=1267 align=center width=400]
And another old one, pic taken at the fort, showing HM the King.
[smg id=1069 align=center width=400]
"Did you say 'getting airborne?'"
"No, I said, 'get an heir born!'"
Cool! :-X :-X
The first one looks a bit like the merc is hanging on to the tree during a hurricane ;D
And geez, Art, isn't it enough that you pinched the king's ring? Did you really have to go and mess up his paperwork as well? ;D
Cheers :)
The King, he literally went ballistic when I messed up his paperwork ;D
OK, His Flying Highness made me laugh out loud. ;D
Was his name King Neri? He Neri hit the roof because of your interference. ::)
I'm afraid I need help with "Neri" -- doesn't ring a bell :(
Actually, I'm going to expand this topic's subject a little so we get more room for merc screenshots.
I never really used the following pic (a very small version used to be my forum avatar and a thumbnail version of this pic decorates my album folder "Art's stuff") so I think this guy (chief of police) deserves a place on the forum, and maybe a "Merc Poser" title de luxe -- He certainly feels the beat... NICE ONE, MATE ;D

if you listen to Dr. Gakumba as you approach for the "kill a king mission" (probably not the real mission name) I believe he either mentions the king's name as being Neri (something like that) or maybe it's during the mission briefing it comes up.
But then weird names run in the king's family, after all he named his son the prince Eduward.
Oh, by the way. I love your screen cap of the top cop bustin-a-move and notice what a nice guy he is! I think he's trying to tell you that up on the roof and over the way he's pointing there's a diamond case. What a swell guy. 8)
Boogie boogie boogie! Get down! ;D :-X
Kind of looks like a drunk guy staggering out of a taxi to me ...
Thanks for the info, mandru :-X
hahaha, you guys ;D ;D ;D
I always took the chief for a great dancer, almost reminds me of Pulp Fiction with John Travolta and Uma Thurman doing those funny moves ;D
Got another sniper, from the nice Fort in Leboa. I had been out of his sight, but he was in range of my hand grenade... a hearty throw of my pineapple upstairs, and he was all fed up with it. ;D The thing to his right is his Uzi.
[smg id=1824 align=center width=400]
Nice toss!! I'm always afraid to attempt those for fear that I'll bounce it off the wall up high and it will come back down on me :-[
Cheers, and yes, so am I. But the reward if they don't... too tempting ;D plus, I'm on a PC and can afford it, savegame's always at hand...
Ah yes, the things I would attempt if not for fear of having to hump it back from the last save point . . .
GOTCHA! This one made me laugh out loud, it's the sniper at Northern Railyard. I tossed up a hand grenade to his roof position to the right, and he came flying down in a very nice arc from top right to bottom left (screenshot taken before he hit the ground quite a bit to the left). All the way down he went "Ah-HAAAAAaaaaaargh!" LOL, nice one, mate!!! ;D
[smg id=1859 align=center width=400]
:-X
Nice capture Art.
Thank you, mandru :)
Some situations (merc on a roof) call for a screenshot setup. I saved my game there and only the third attempt actually sent him flying, the other two let him drop dead somewhere on the roof, out of sight. Ah no, there was one more attempt, which kind of flung him down at me (screenies didn't pass my QA) ;D
Some situations come unexpected, for example the last merc of a guard post kept running around and I couldn't get him, so out of frustration I tossed a hand grenade at a parked Jeep Wrangler. It blew up, went high into the air in a twisted arc, and when it was about to land, I saw that merc running right below that Jeep. He got crushed and set on fire at the same time, because the Jeep also blew up a yellow barrel. Needless to say, I laughed a lot at that, but it could never have been captured in a single shot.
Hehehe, nice one, mate ;D :-X

Yeah, sometimes the funniest situations are so dependent on pure luck and chance that no matter how you set up for a screen capture you can never catch it or even recreate it again properly.
At that point it just comes down to "Let me tell you about the one that got away..."
Let me tell you about that bouncer in Sefapane... ;)
[smg id=1865 align=center width=400]
I see - you were trying to find out how well the bouncer bounces ;D
Cool pic there, mate :-X :-X
hehehe, cheers mate ;D
Crazy composition, isn't it :) Merc in the air, and an upright buggy in flames, and my gun hold in an unobtrusive and innocent fashion ;D
Doorman's final thought "Hey! I can see my post from here!"
;D
Indeed - great capture - I don't use grenades nearly as much as I should and have missed out on much action - which reminds me - if anyone hasn't played with the flare gun, it is also a blast :-X
thanks, PZ :) You are right, flare guns can be quite fun, yes :)
Here, I thought I'd teach that rude merc a lesson, even in a cease fire zone.
[smg id=1874 align=center width=400]
:-X
Nice loft Art! ;D
cheers :)
Here an example of a merc poser. Thought he could impress me by going into that lake until only his head stuck out and sneak around there. I threw in my 2 cents of admiration... and legged it as quickly as possible ;D

His technique was flawless, dismount excellent, but he's going to lose some points on the landing ;D
... along with some teeth.
;D
...and skin
;D
;D ;D
Talk about being "blown out of the water"...
Got some different air mercs...
"I think I hit something... nah, it was nothing." ;D
[smg id=1894 align=center width=400]
I chuckled over that shot for a few minutes Art. :)
Did you turn your headlights on at the last second or did they just overlook your approach?
(Note to self:
Drive for effect.
AT + mercs = dead mercs + long flat slides.
Buggy + mercs + a wee bit of luck = acrobatics! ;D)
I love the dune buggy for that sort of sport. And indeed, they tend to do flips and backflips when you run them over in a buggy ;D
That vehicle is weak when shot at, especially from behind, but its acceleration is more than convincing. It can climb steep slopes and slip through narrow passages (ie between trees). But whenever I see or hear anything dangerous (.50AT or GLAT or RPG mercs etc) I jump out of the car and attack on foot. When I see mercs on their own, I run them over with it ;D
In this case, I had the ignore player cheat on, which makes it much more effective. Of course, I didn't need to worry about the headlights disturbing them, so I had them on while approaching. Well, the headlights might have disturbed them, when they got a heavy hit with the grill in the ankles and a light hit in the head with those lamps, when they tumbled over my cage ;D
I do run them over without cheats, too. Usually they try to jump away from the car and I try to anticipate where they are headed, so they get knocked down right away.
Just on an aside, did you know at what time cars switch on their lights? It happened just then and I was a short distance from a safehouse. So I reloaded, drove to that safehouse and waited in the buggy for the lights to switch on. Then I hurried inside and checked the alarm clock: 10:10pm :)
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I love your screenies, mate :-X
cheers ;D
I laughed when I saw the pic, but I laughed harder when I saw mandru's question about about if Art hit the headlights (or in this case deadlights? ::)) right before the moment of impact! I was just sitting here thinking what that would look like - that's going on the to-do list for my next tour of duty in Africa ;D
The way you read mandru's question is obviously different from how I read it, but I think I got your point... as in
"Alright, it's damn dark here, can't see a thing. I'll better switch those headlights on so I can *click* see mooooooaaa-*CA-CLONK!*-aaaAARGH! WTF!! Jesus Christ in a dish-washer!" ;D
;D
Sometimes you crack me up Art. :-X
I was actually thinking when I asked about the headlights being flipped on at the last second was it seemed a pity to kill them without their knowing about it.
I like to give the mercs the gift of a split second of terror but not enough time to do anything about it before I kill them to make their passing a little sweeter. :-*
It kinda makes up for all casualties from my dart rifle of love where I don't get the pleasure of seeing a fear response. ;)
A bit reminiscent of the gymnastics events at the last Olympics ;)
I stopped playing 'hide & seek' when the mercs started to ignore the laws of physics.
[smg id=1896]
hehehe, yeah, our favourite GP with the stone man. Nice pic, mate ;D :-X
Mandru, I know what you mean with that split second of terror. What I like is if they got suspicious and going "huh?-HUH?" or that whispered, high-pitched "what the f***?" Then shoot them in the face. Allmost like holding clash cymbals, pop up into their face, clapping your hands together, with their head between them: "CRASHHHhhhhh!" (Visualise this: you know, Tom&Jerry style, left cymbal = "(" head = "O" right cybal =")" so it looks like "(O)" ;D)

ROFL! ;D ;D ;D

I can't help it, but this one looks fascinating. Merc posers category :)
[smg id=1930 align=center width=400]
When I invert that picture 180 Deg. it does look very much like a variant of a step used in the Russian Bottle Dance. ;D
Lol "Russian Bottle Dance" ;D ;D ;D
Or possibly African Mud Pilates :)
Cool pic, Art :-X
Those guys end up in the funniest poses! :-X

Preparation H is a topical hemorrhoid cream, if you look close at that pic, the guy has his hand "back there" like he's in a state of discomfort, lol, sick humor, hehe.

That's a real flying circus there Art, funny stuff ;D ;D I count five airborne mercs in total. I like the guy on the far right in the second photo - "Look at me, I'm Superman!"
Big "Nice one, mate" :-X :-X
cheers ;D ;D
The guy on the far right seems to have been leading the air race and then hit the column. If you look at the guy to his left, he's already level with him in pic three, which means he's passing him ;D
What made me wonder was how all mercs got flushed out from there, passing me (best: third pic, guy on the far left, hehehe) leaving the basin there empty, all a matter of about one second! :o ;D
;D ;D ;D
Pic 3, far left guy! He's still gaining height! Ha ha ha!
If you hit print screen to make those captures as fast as the game would allow I bet you've got one heck of a flip card animation that you will chuckle over for a long time! ;) :-X
hehehe, the guy to the left nearly knocked me out with those boots! ;D
Actually I did nearly exactly what you said: hit PRNTSCR (well, mapped on my G15 keyboard so it's to the left of my left CTRL key) which makes the game freeze for a moment, and just then hit it again, it moves on for a couple of frames and freezes again, etc. :)
I've got a wild flip card animation segment from the glitch at the safe house near Rail Crossing when you complete the Yabek and his Barge mission as your last faction mission and the .50 cal AT becomes doubled with a GLAT. Jump in and blast off! 8)
There's probably 25 shots or so through the run and I will often pull them up in a preview and click through them to relive the ride. :-X
Did someone say flipbook? LOL
[smg id=2003 align=center]
Click it to animate.....
Sweetness! Ha ha ha - I love it D_B! :-X
Hahahaha, "nice one, mate" ;D ;D ;D :-X :-X :-X gotta applaud you for that, D_B mate ;D
You always post good images, Art! :-X
Thank you, PZ :) D_B was so kind and created that flipbook out of those.
Actually, those pics look a little rough (movement) because I moved slightly around due to the frame stutter caused by hitting the screenshot key.
I just interpret the jitter as shock from the blast. Brings it to life, heh heh.
hehe, short of motion sickness ;D
Well done, D_B ;D :-X :-X

Agree eor, Art's pic of the ascending suit is a classic :-X :-X
everyone who likes to have that very pic may click the link above which leads to a full size high quality "original" screenshot. Only 2 megs worth of download size, and it's yours ;)
lol, this is a classic - looks like the suit should be saying "look ma, no hands!"
Hehehe ;D ;D
How did you get Purefoy to fall out of a window? I never saw anywhere to do that.
Ah you saw the pic somewhere back in this topic
[smg id=1917 align=center width=400]
I used to use the caption "handgrenade expert" for my then avatar (a hand grenade) -- I lobbed one up and in, out and down came Purefoy. ;D
Just one of those happy coincidences FC2 is good at delivering, eh Art? ;D
indeed, and a quick trigger finger to snap a (screen-) shot is my second most favoured activity (after blowing up mercs with 'nades) ;D
That screen capture is still one of what I consider the hallmarks of FC2 gaming - doing what you want and the unexpected happens. I doubt that even the developers have thought of all the potential possibilities. :-X
That reminds me of this one:
[smg id=1900 align=center width=400]
I bet that's something not everybody expected, either ;D
I said "beam me up Scotty", not blow me up!
lol, I believe I recall seeing that one, but not the particulars :-()

Good one - I find that I'm using the grenade launching AT more frequently to move objects and mercs. :-()
Hand grenades are.. slower. More fun to watch them sail away and most fun if you get something in return.. like a merc :-()
FarCry2 Jumping Jack (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7p4QF5Y3CuE#)
After nailing this one with the M-79 I walked away but then heard this huge noise so I turned back to investigate; This is what I saw ???
looks like one merc just happened to come raining down from the sky when you looked at the wreck of his AT ^+-+
with the jeep in that upside down position the merc was ontop and his whole body was jerking which was the cause of the noise then suddenly the merc's body went airborne, I just mannaged to get the clip as the body came down.
still funny enough ^+-+ :-X
