Faculty in education like to use technology to record audio and screen video of what they are doing on PC. Some even do PIP.
The legislature in it's infinite wisdom has now mandated that faculty may no longer record video unless it is secured so that only that particular section of class can see/hear the recording. It is a FERPA violation to allow anyone else to hear the recording just in case a student asks a question which might be picked up by the in-class microphone. Their voice might be heard in the background, and someone might recognize it. :D

Instructors can't use recordings to educate but students can record and edit (covering up situational lead up/what caused a reaction) with smartphones to incriminate.
