I've been using some freeware that you might find useful if you've been posting photos or map captures. The software requires .net.
Paint.net (http://download.cnet.com/Paint-NET/3000-2192_4-10338146.html) from Download.com
Thanks pzrzao, I'll check this software for sure.
I'm using GIMP - GNU Image Manipulation Program

Find it very usefull to resize, crop, color editing etc... although I miss a few fetures I use on Corel Draw X4 at the office, but its a free software so its great like that!

this is a very useful program, both viewer and editor. Not luxurious as some high-end products, but hey, I do everything with it ;)
irfanview is really good, been using since you recomended it few weeks back. reckon one of its best features is "batch convert" - select images (1 or loads, seems to read most formats too) then you can change the size, format, AND file name. Amazing little feature thats saved me many hours already :-X
Indeed - it is particularly efficient at changing image size/quality. I've noticed that even small changes in image compression lead to significant changes in file size - without affecting the on-screen quality much.
