Did you know you can go to your profile and examine many different portal options?  For instance in your profile, look under Look and Layout.  You can change preferential things like:

   
• Show the most recent posts at the top - I use this so when I click on a topic that might have 5 pages of posts, the latest one is always at the top of the page and I can w@&k my way back.
• Topics to display per page
• Use quick reply
• Change your theme
  

and much more - customize things so that it works the best for you.
