hit the ~ key just above the Tab key. Then type in (without

is to enter the number of that item you want and hit your

I need to print out this cheats "book" ;)
took me ages to get all those, and it will take you a while to use them. There are lists of every item (loads) :)
Excellent compilation, my friend. :-X
When I installed the game, all I did was install the first DVD which I guess is the original game. My assumption is that the second DVD contains the added content, the names of which escape me right now. Do you know if any of the other content is waste land-like (i.e. FC2-like)? I personally don't care for the futuristic environments like alien planets, spaceships, etc.
no idea, old chap ;D I only played vanilla FO3 (although I did mod my weapons, using EDEN kit)
i believe that you've mentioned the Eden kit before, but I don't recall if you said where it is available - where can we get that?
Garden of Eden Creation Kit (GECK)
Download here:
http://static.bethsoft.com/fo3/geck.zip
and the update

Regarding updates (v1.5 current) and installation see:
http://geck.bethsoft.com/index.php/Bethsoft_Tutorial_GECK_Setup
The Eden Kit page for everything related to it:

Updates for FO3: (currently v1.7)

Great resources - thanks a bunch. I'd not had the time to research updates to the game, or much of anything else if I actually wanted a little game time.
EDIT: very cool - the Garden of Eden Kit is basically a way to create/modify/add content for FO3 :-X
I don't think I patched my game (been a while) so, as long as you don't have major issues, well... This EDEN kit, or modding in general, is a story of its own. It does take some time until you get what you want, given you never saw that "editor" before. For those of you who already have experience with ElderScrollsIV Oblivion, you'll get right into it :)
Tips on how to/why use cheats
Sometimes cheats are useful, especially if you want to get rid of so called "quest items" (the ones you cannot drop or sell or use up). Just find the code in the tables above and remove them from you.
And, of course, if you think a lvl20XP is too little... with the cheats you can actually have all skills and perks maxed out in one character, and can rearrange them (perks you don't find useful, remove them and take a new pick).
It can help the game system as if it were a patch. If you want to make it less a cheat, remove some of your money (bottle caps) in return.
A very nice trick is to do this "player.removeallitems <ID_of_a_container>" If you have the console down, look at a desk or locker in your house, click with your mouse through the console on that container, and enter the code that now is displayed on top of your screen into the <brackets> (but you don't type the brackets, just the ID). Now you are naked... that means, everything, including your money and pipboy are in that container. you can now "loot" that container and leave the stuff you don't immediately need. Best if you pick only stuff of a kind, like clothes, and then do the same routine with a different container. Like that, you can organise a huge collection using different containers for items of a kind. Especially useful if you have significantly increased the amount of what you can carry.
Tip for explorers:
A cheap way for a quick map reference (where do you want to go? Scrapyard, perhaps?) is to use the command "tmm 1" (all mapmarkers = see every possible location).
If I remember correctly, the toggle works like that, plain and brutal: Either see everything "1" or nothing "0" -- I think when you enable it to check where a certain location is, the problem is to disable it "0" because it will override every map marker, those you unlocked during your travels as well as even Megaton. The trick would be, save your game, enable it, check for the location, then reload your game (so the toggle is undone, leaving you with your actual map). If I remember correctly, tmm 1 does show markers, yet you cannot jump to a location unless you have been there before.
Great tip - thanks. I saw that on the screen about jumping to areas - how do you do that? I did not see a key in the manual that seemed to accomplish that.
In order to fasttravel to an area you have discovered ie. vistited do this:
1. open yuor pipboy map
2. klick on the location you want to travel to
3. answer "yes " when the game asks you if you want to travel there
and voilá you are there ;D
It's great since there's no vehicles available.(why cant you ride a motorcycle?) but not as well implemented as the busses in FC2 imho. As for cheats, i was admittedly using the caps and bobbypins cheats, as well as some ammo, but since i figured out the art of scavenging stuff for cash, i dont really need to use them anymore.
Thanks guys - I knew there was a way because I'd seen the prompt on-screen, but didn't find out how to get it done. I was becoming a bit tired of walking through the same places ;D
using
ArtMod 002: (read here (http://openworldgames.org/owg/forums/index.php?topic=1150.msg17233#msg17233))
Quotenew ArtBlade .44 Pistol ID 01003d31- OK
new ArtBlade .44 ultra MP ID 01004a7e
to get those weapons into your inventory, just open the console and type
player.additem 01003d31 1
and
player.additem 01004a7e 1
to get .44 ammo = 0002937E, so for 50 rounds type
player.additem 0002937E 50
if you want to equip your buddy with it, look at him, open the console, and click with the mousecursor on him.
You should see something like "002b81e" on the top of your screen, that's his current ID (it may change, so better always do it like that)
Then just type
additem 01004a7e 1
now open the console, chat with him and pic "let's trade items" -- now you'll find the ultra MP in his possession :)
or, if you click at him through the console, just type
showinventory
and you'll see everything he has got with the proper IDs (you can use them to stuff yourself with it) ;D
showinventory works with objects, too... what's in that safe? Click the safe, check there is a number on top of your screen (the ID for the safe) and then, showinventory :)
Want to open this safe? type "unlock" into the console and close the console, but open the safe without key or password
LOL ;D
Cool - can't wait to try this out when I return home - currently in Oakland, California and am away from my games :'(
Meanwhile, enjoy your trip :) and thanks for stopping by :-X
Some useful cheats, and how to use them
Any of the following requires you to open the console using the ~ key (above the tab key, and to the left of 1 key)
- well, something quite simple is TM (toggle menus). Good for screenshots :) type it to toggle on, and again to toggle off.
- something more useful: "moveto"
"moveto" requires someone to move to somewhere, so you need two IDs.
one ID could be you, if you wish to fast travel to somewhere. You need an ID as a target.
To get a target, you should write down the ID of it, like dogmeat's ID. To get it, look at dogmeat,
open the console and click on him. You'll see "dogmeat 0006a775" so you write down 6a775 and "dogmeat" so you know what the number stands for. Now if you can't find your dog, you can either move to dogmeat or make dogmeat move to you.
player.moveto 6a775 makes you move to dogmeat.
please note the full stop between player and moveto, it is necessary.
The other way round is a little more w@&k:
Type
prid 6a775 and hit enter
then type
moveto player and hit enter - now this makes dogmeat move to you.
please note there is no full stop between moveto and player. This is necessary.
Going to post more if I happen upon something :)
Excellent - I just lost a traveler that I needed to escort and because I did, I cannot fast travel anywhere.
hehe :)
Just a sidenote, just so happened to me: If you leave your companions waiting for you, they will return to their original place after probably a couple of real time hours (can't tell how many). My dog decided to return to vault 101 and I thought hell, I'll whistle and he'll be back. So I made him "moveto" me and guess what... a bloody berserk he was and started attacking me. I had to punch his lights out (man he can take a lot of a beating before he caves in). So I reloaded... Would have been a better idea to have performed a "moveto" him instead.
You should have left him with a bone to chew on ;D
lol fragger ;D ;D
duplicate items with "100% unused" characteristics.
Found a decent toy? A rusty weapon in a pitiful state? A unique item you can't repair? Or, seen a weapon or some cool clothings on someone you can't or don't want to kill?
Well, don't worry. Here's a solution for you:
The main commands for this will be "inv" and "additem"
First, what you're going to do is, use "ShowInventory" (better the short form "inv") to read a list of items of someone or something that also shows the ID of those items. Then use "additem" to add that item to your or someone else's inventory.
How to:
1) open the console and click on the desired object (a person, your locker, a safe... anything that contains something).
2) type inv to see the list (use page up/down to scroll the console). If you found the item you are looking for, remember (write down) its ID. Let's say it is 12345678.
3) type player.additem 12345678 (that would be the ID of the thing you want) AND the amount of how many of those items you want, like 50. It would look like this:
player.additem 12345678 50
Now you've added a vanilla 100% new version of the item you wanted to your own inventory.
Like that, you can use anything you found and collected, no matter if it needs to be repaired, and put it into a crate/shelf/safe/whatever container. Click on your container and type inv. Proceed as described above to duplicate whatever item in a brand new state :) Like that, you can duplicate unique items as often as you want.
If you want to have some fun
Imagine you see some people fighting. Now open the console, click on one of those people, and add a super weapon to his inventory. As long as the person's ID is showing (after you clicked on him/her, it will be displayed on top of your console/screen) you can add or remove items to and from him/her.
inv to see what he/she is carrying, so you can remove crap guns: check for the ID of his/her gun. Like 87654321 (silly example hehe). Make sure the person's ID is showing to make the following w@&k (maybe need to click on the person again) then type:
removeitem 87654321 1 remove the current gun from the person. Else, your gun may not be used.
If you know the ID of the gun you want to donate, it's just like:
additem 12345678 1 (one! gun)
Maybe you should add some ammo, in case it is a firearm :)
additem 12121212 200 (add 200 ammo that uses the ID "12121212" which I'm making up here, you need to check the real ammo ID)
If you want to give weapons and ammo that you are currently carrying yourself, then it's fairly easy to find out the IDs of the weapon and ammo, if you check your inventory:
player.inv
Now you find the IDs, click on the person you want to add it to and use the additem command :)
If you can't see the person but know that person's ID, you can type
prid 12345678 (well, the actual ID then!) and you'll see the person's name and ID show up on the screen again, then use additem and done :)
Have fun :)
Great tips Art, thanks for posting! :-X
(Whew!) Boy, am I gonna have some re-reading to do when I get this game! Hope I actually get time to play it... ;D

Go fragger go! ;)
Another tip for the collector type of players
First, you should know the game engine sometimes produces some kind of hiccup if you stuff loads (like 50+) of different items into one single container, especially if you have multiple versions of one item (different states of degradation). It doesn't seem to be important if you keep a small amount of degraded items inside a container, though. Best thing to do is, find different containers and dedicate them to themes like "weapons" etc. Like that, it will be easier for you to keep track, too.
What the tip is about: Compare if you've got an item already (thinking of clothes and armour) or not. You know, walking around, shoot someone and go, "gee, I don't think I have this pre-war casual wear" and take it. When you get home, you'll check your container and go, "darn, got it already." You could either put it into a container for later sale, or get rid of it. Sell a used, broken item? Use degraded stuff yourself? Why??
Now the good part: if you cheat...
Open the desired container, say "armour," and you'll see a list of your current inventory and the inventory of the container, both in alphabetical order. Now change your sort order from "items" (all stuff unsorted) to "apparel" so you're not going to compare helmets with teddy bears... Now both lists match, compare your list alphabetically with the list of the container, and add to the container what's in your left list, but missing on the right list. Like that, you'll easily get a list of singular items, no matter what state they're in.
The stuff you've got left in your inventory you won't need any more? Put it in an empty box, open the console, click on the box, make sure you don't see "" (nothing inside the quotes) but someting like "box" (12345678) and type removeallitems to empty the box for good.
Now the container with singular items. Again, open the console, click on the container, make sure you see something like "container" (00ab12ab) and type inv + hit enter... you should see a list that displays both the name of the items and their IDs. Those IDs are what you need to duplicate those items...
see my previous post "duplicate items" :) Type player.additem <id> <amount> and ding! you've got a 100% new version in your pockets. That is cool if you want to change your clothes, or if you want your buddy to wear the same clothes as you do etc.
If you want to posess a special item, check the first three posts, there are lists of all existing items... go get them and put them in your container, for later reference and use ;)
Enjoy. :)
Argh, I killed someone I didn't mean to!
open the console, click on the body so you get to see the ID. Then type resurrect and yes... there you are :)
For some fun:
You can shoot a Raider, then loot him. Then resurrect him. You can shoot a Raider, then loot him. Then resurrect him. You can shoot a Raider, then loot him. Then resurrect him. You can shoot a Raider, then loot him. Then resurrect him. You can shoot a Raider, then loot him. Then resurrect him... ;D
oh, one more:
if you're dealing with an essential (immortal) character, be it an important quest character or a modded companion (dogmeat, Charon... like from ArtMod) you sometimes want to "refresh" them, when they lost strength due to battles, if they are wounded...
Console... as usual... then click on the character, type kill and wham, they drop unconscious (other creatures just die, you could resurrect them, see previous post) -- as soon as they get up again, they'll be fully restored regarding health etc. :)
