Title: Quick Start Saves
Post by: RedRaven on May 14, 2009, 03:07:29 AM
hi, have posted a zipped file into Downloads area, Xianyong Quick Starts, contains an Image file with info and 5 save games.
1) PALA pre escape
2-5) Each of the 4 start locations, wounds healed, weapons picked up, stood outside building ready to go to the car and fix it.

hope these are of use to you, if there are any problems let me know, if they w@&k fine then will post the same for each of the other 8 characters, and possibly the same but POST-TUTORIAL, which will let you Start stood outside Pala Church Ready to go (will only do them if the saves w@&k for people)
they will be done with 100% accuracy, and only the 1st diamond found (10) and Makarov pistol bought (these 2 steps are part of tutorial so unavoidable)
Enjoy.

p.s. the saves w@&k fine on my Vista system too, but they do defo require DLC fortune pack to w@&k.

Fantastic dke58, I'll be sure to try them out this weekend.  By the way, do you have others that are further into the game?  It might be fun to be able to enter the game from many different percentages spots.

Great idea to have these start games to bypass the entry video sequences.  :-X

Just tried the saved games on my PC and they w@&k great!   :-X

Anyone have more?  by the way, the zip format worked extremely well - very compact size for download.

dke58, I really like the way that you included the jpg giving the information about the saves - was a great menu to choose from!

Thanks for posting the saves without the DLC, Art!

save games (http://openworldgames.org/owg/forums/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=28) now available. The problem was a too long filename, made the site call it a hacking attempt  ;D

Hello OpenWorldGame.org Fan,

those two savegames were created without any DLC
predecessor missions are activated

The save games are for testing purposes, use at your own risk.
I hope that you find them useful, enjoy the game :)

Welcome... it was kind of an "old-school" problem. Remember those windows 8.3 filename restrictions? :)

about the saves, I reckon you will find your DLC stuff in the world... doesn't w@&k the other way round though, DLC-saves only w@&k on DLC machines.

Yeah, I still find it difficult to break out of 8.3, and even worse when it comes to having spaces in file names.  Of course, using a unix server means that you additionally need to worry about case sensitivity in the file name, no wonder I'm all messed up...

oh yes... what do you think, how about putting up a warning sign on the upload page stating these requirements? Might help prevent peeps from completely freaking out on messages such as "An Error has occurred. Hacking Attempt!" ;D

Paul & Quarbani are now up. ;)

Next on the list is to complete the tutorial phase with each character, they will follow on from the saves already posted with extra info i.e.- buddies found, weapon bought etc.
all will be done with 100% accuracy too (using fire, grenades and vehicles as much as possible to kill the mercs encountered during tutorial phase - 7 in total, 2 at first safe house ans 5 at outpost)

Going to start alphabetically but am  open to requests. :-X

I think you are referring to the cheats, because that's what I did: UnlockAllWeapons. The reason was, I played without cheating in my first through, now I didn't want to :) So I got my weapons that I was already used to.

cool, thought so. its good to walk into the armoury and find it full, and the DLC box too - spoiled for choice ;D

have just uploaded Andre save games, post tutorial, 4 saves following on from the first Andre post.

Starting outside the church in Pala, (DLC needed tho - sorry to those without it)

Let me know if there are any problems with them.
Cheers :-X

Looking forward to trying out the saves dke58 and Art, I've played through enough so that I currently prefer to enter the game at certain percentages and go from there.

One question - if you are using a saved game that had cheats applied, do you need to enter the cheat parameters to still have the applied cheats or does the program "remember" that the cheat was applied?
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: RedRaven on May 21, 2009, 12:52:36 PM
got no cheats on my system but when i ran both of Arts saves the effects of them were there (all weapons available in both) good excuse to try new combinations or just go on a rampage  ;D  ;D  ;D
also if you have the DLC installed both of Arts saves w@&k fine and you get the DLC stuff too  :-X  :-X  :-X
spent couple hours this afternoon running around with weapons i dont normally buy/use just blowing things up.

I edited the description on the download page.

Andre at 4% , all 4 weapon vendor missions completed
49 diamonds to spend (silent & normal makarov got)

4 Buddies Active and Alive.

;D cheers, when can find it in the many, many folders and files will put some more Andre saves up deeper into the game.
keep getting engrosed in one got running at the moment...
Infamous level setting, only using Machete, Grenades, Molotovs and Pistols. (and anytime a merc drops rocket launcher or sniper rifle will use that till it breaks down).
Its really hard but fun when i pull off 4 head-shot kills in quick succesion without getting shot back !!! ;D
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: PZ on June 07, 2009, 04:15:36 PM
...now, there's a guy that is proficient with his weapons!   :-X

I'm afraid that the mercs would get 4 head shots on me before I would get that many on them...
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: RedRaven on June 07, 2009, 04:59:09 PM
cant pull it off as often as i'd like, but its always fun to try. find myself drawing machete and charging in more and more these days too, only takes 1 or 2 strikes and they done. ;D ;D ;D
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: PZ on June 07, 2009, 05:55:37 PM
I'm enjoying the machete more these days as well - partly because I'm using the one that looks like an old lawnmower blade - love that look...
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: RedRaven on June 07, 2009, 06:31:46 PM
what what what.... different machetes ???
how did you manage that ?
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: PZ on June 07, 2009, 06:45:53 PM
Yeah, I thought you knew about them - the "stock" one that comes with the game, and codes that unlock the others - not positive, but I think that there is a home made one (looks like a lawn mower blade) and a primitive one.  Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe that D_B has a registry file in the downloads section that unlocks these machetes plus the bonus missions for the PC and if you link your Playstation account to the Ubi account, on the PS3 - you also get the machetes.

Are you serious?? Try this file (http://openworldgames.org/owg/forums/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=6).
Not only you get 3 wicked machetes but also enables the Predecessor Missions too  ;)
Run the .reg fie and launch FC2. Go to game options and you'll see machete type below the amBX option. You cannot change during game, so experimenting is not quick. I like the homemade one  ;D ;D

One could get the impression you were rather favourably disposed towards FC2, wouldn't you say, old chap?  ;D

great job  :-X

I know how hard it is to keep a halfways decent accuracy... just out of interest, how many shots fired? like 100?
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: RedRaven on June 13, 2009, 12:13:54 AM
Lol. just a bit (its not many games that grab me in such a way)

here are some stats
Total Shots = 672
Total Hits   = 672
Total Bullet Kills = 545
(127 shots from where its taken more than 1 bullet)

Machete Kills = 57
Fire Kills = 56
Blast Kills = 165
Vehicle Kills = 43

Body Count at end of Act 1 = 866

Fire and Blast kills are approximate totals (probably higher) ;D

oh - 37:19:53 time played...
and POO POO POO POO.....now got the same Jackal Tape glytch in southern map-POO POO POO POO.
kinda screws up trying to complete game 100% with everything found....god-damit :(
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: JRD on June 13, 2009, 08:42:51 AM
hmpf... using shotguns now I see my accuracy drops to a lousy 17% ....... but the fun level in blasting mercs face to face is increasing  ;D ;D
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: Art Blade on June 13, 2009, 10:45:09 AM
yeah, I did one runthrough trying to keep a good accuracy (up to 79% with 13k+ shots @ 50% completion, see savegames section)

Then I decided to hell with it, this is supposed to be fun... and I shoot everything, including my own car's engine  :)
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: RedRaven on June 13, 2009, 03:51:50 PM
to JRD - i love shotguns but they really suck for accuracy, every shot counts as 7, due to it being buck-shot, and i've yet to get all 7 to hit!!!!
the stats i posted below were achieved using SVD mostly (great sniper rifle ;D ).
was hoping silenced shotgun would have solid slugs....alas was not to be :(

Wow, do you play MP?  - must be a killer if you do...

By the way, does anyone know it it is necessary to have the DLC in order to play the DLC saves?  The only thing I'd be concerned about are the weapons because the vehicles seem to be direct replacements for what is already there.  Maybe if you saved the game without carrying any of the special weapons, anyone could use it.

I tried it myself, you can't. The game would show up on the saves list, even with a pic, but then telling you (paraphrase) "the save is from a machine with DLC and can only be used on a machine with DLC"

Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: RedRaven on August 20, 2009, 02:19:13 PM
cheers PZ, should of stated in the post that all progression thru each set/stage of saves is done on INFAMOUS level, (sort it for EASY at end of each Stage) that, coupled with keeping 100% Accuracy and not collecting diamonds to get better weapons has made achieving 4 convoy hits in a row pretty taxing, certainly added new sets of challanges to getting the job done.24 pistol rounds, 2 grenades, 2 molotovs, 3 crossbow bolts !!! now using terrain alot more creatively, any vehicle has always been a disposable weapon in my book, more so now, and of course the machete gets used a hell of alot more, some of those mercs are that sun-struck you can just stand up and charge right at them, some dont even bring their weapon up, then look shocked as they get cut down, almost always takes 2 strikes to kill as a point of interest. Anyway, enough from me for now, back to the (s)laughter ;) :-X

have now added 3 Quick Start packs to the download section (look in Downloads - save games with DLC)
so far there is Andre, Frank and Hakim.
11 Easy saves, 11 Infamous. (starting with Escape from PALA, then pre-tutorial, post-tutorial, and with all weapons convoys completed) see the Readme file in each pack for more details.
The other 6 characters to follow ASAP.
Cheers,

This is a little clip of Frank in action and on top form

[smg id=1302 type=av]

was not able to include it with the saves due to size, but here it is.  (alot easier in FC2 than it is in A2 to get these one bullet head-shot kills i'll tell ya ;) )

[if you came here from "(funny) tactics and tips" please read the following posts too /edit/Art Blade]

The only way I can do headshots from far away is aiming with a dart rifle (empty, or I'll use it), swaping to another gun without touching the mouse and firing.

Congrats dke... two tough shots  :-X :-X :-X
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: Art Blade on August 28, 2009, 08:31:12 AM
hehe, I couldn't even see the first target :) Nice  :-X

JRD, that works indeed, any weap with a scope will do - aim and switch and shoot :)

Oh, one more way you can do it... use the scope, hold it, and mark the centre of the scope on your screen using a thin felt pen - of course the dot remains, but allows for shooting from the hip or with poor ironsights. Also fun watching that dot during films, you can see how the camera operates :)
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: PZ on August 28, 2009, 08:43:54 AM
That's a good couple of tips Art - I think that I'll try the dot on the screen with a bit of transparent tape so I can easily remove it - I was not even aware that you could aim and switch weapons - cool, especially when you run out of those extremely limiting number of darts you're issued.  :-X
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: RedRaven on August 28, 2009, 10:07:56 AM
didnt know about the aim-switch either, think i'll give that a go to try and extend my kill range with a pistol ;D
nice one JRD :-X

btw - must admit that shots like those in the Frank vid whilst keeping accuracy at 100%
would be near as damit impossible without the ability to quick-save and quick-load on the PC - must use those as often as actually hitting the mark ::)

Would it be ok if I upload a ''starter'' save for the ps3? (eu region)
As I don't want to steal anyone his/her idea, but I believe that there are some people on here who play on the PS3. :)

Hi Calibra88 and welcome to OWG.
I say post away... good idea to have start saves for PS3 as well!
Don't worry about stealing ideas, we share them a lot here  ;)
Cheers mate

I didn't even know PS3 players could share files! Good idea, go on :)

I didn't either, and I even play on PS3!  :-[

You might also include a readme telling people how to get it onto their PlayStation if you have the time.

When I had a PS one me and my friends used to swap some save files using our memory cards... nowadays I think consoles have no memory cards anymore, so I don't know how it would w@&k, but the idea is the same!! Or isn't it?  ::)

as far as i'm aware alot of the save-games for PS3 are saved directly onto its own internal hard drive. could be wrong as i dont yet own one, but a couple of mates do and never seen them use a memory card with it.

The original zipped files for Andre, Frank, Hakim and Xianyong have been removed from the download secton. Each has been replaced with a 'quick start pack' that contains a better variety of saves 11 Easy and 11 Infamous level - read the enclosed README file for more info.

Share and Enjoy

Cheers ;D

Because I love to cheat, I'm going to play infamous with unlimited ammo, and God mode  ;) just to see how different the merc behavior is for me.

likewise, would like to know if you experience any difference in the mercs, as far as i have noticed the only difference in the difficulty levels is the reduced amount of ammo, meds nades etc. there is still the same amount of mercs at outposts and safe houses and not noticed any change in patrols either. As far as i could tell by going up in level you need to be less trigger happy or loot from dead mercs more when you run out. Did notice that at higher levels mercs are less likely to drop grenades tho.
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: PZ on September 24, 2009, 08:14:32 AM
So far I've not noticed any difference for sure, but I need to play longer.  A first impression is that they were a bit more aggressive in flanking my position, but I cannot say for sure yet.  If there is any difference, it has not been that noticeable just yet.
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: Art Blade on September 24, 2009, 09:01:58 AM
Some time ago I tried that too, playing at higher difficulty, for a short time. I think the only difference is how you deal with less ammo and health.
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: PZ on September 24, 2009, 10:54:47 AM
Seems to be the case, although the Prima guide claims that the mercs are "smarter" at the higher difficulty levels - just have not been able to justify that claim in my travels though.  I'll stick with it for a while (with unlimited ammo of course  ;D) to confirm my initial observation.  There have been several instances where I thought something was happening a certain way in FC2 only to finally realize with enough play that it was not the case that I had originally though.
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: Art Blade on September 24, 2009, 11:32:32 AM
I too read that in that prima guide. But that wouldn't be the only erm, difference between whatever they played and what we play :)

yeah sure ! if by smarter they mean still dumb enough to walk IN to flaming fields instead of away from them.....

have seen that type of Merc Dumbness on all levels so have stuck to infamous when playing.

excellent w@&k.  :-X

Now I recommend you do something about your 100% accuracy. hehehe :) You know, I was almost like you during my first through and I believe at the beginning of my second, also. Then I realised I missed some fun of "going in wild" - so right now I use Deagle for fun firefights, SAW, that rapid fire automatic shotgun (I used it so seldomly I have never remembered its name, hehe) - basically, crap on accuracy. In my case, my current progress in my third through is about 60+% with -- I don't know exactly -- 80k shots fired, I guess last time I checked it was 65k+ shots and still I have 25+% accuracy (lol)  ;D But I am enjoying it so much more since I ignore accuracy stats, and I can now shoot my vehicle's engine until it steams, so I can repair it "back to fresh" without thinking. No more careful approaches. Full tilt  ;D.
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves

Cheers Art :-X

Its funny that you mention 100% accuracy because the 1st thing I did after finally getting all those quick save packs done was to pick one at random from the Post Tutorial sets, grab a few diamonds from the Pala/Mikes area, get tooled up and go on a "Lead-spitting rampage". And to make it a little more interesting from previous Plays decided not to do any convoy missions until last as they are always the first thing i do, and to roll dice to determine which map sector to deliver my little gift of carnage (using an 8 sided dice and not including the sector currently in so it will keep me moving).

Hakim got the job as my instrument of chaos ;D . Weapon choices are limited to

Makarov, IED's and Ornate Shotgun as Secondary.
Homeland37, G3-KA4, M1903 and Silent Shotgun as Primary
PKM and Crossbow as Special
(opted for Makarov, Silent Shotgun and Crossbow to begin with)

will add variety with what ever else i find on my travels, and of course anything useful dropped by dead Mercs.

And when i get my hands on a Unimog will try to keep it going as long as possible to make use of the unlimited ammo that the mounted .50 calibre machine gun gets.

And not keeping to a strict 100% accuracy will enable me to capture more vids too.

Super job :)

I spend most my time on full out using

Mac10/Uzi,
Golden AK47/G3/AR-16
Crossbow/PKM/SAW depending on area.

Also collect all the diamonds as I enter new area to increase the number of firefights.

Currently keeping the first Unimog for South and first Unimog in the North forces me not use the bus.

Not yet had nerve to go infamous :-[ but do it on normal.

Apart from F.E.A.R. and all its variants I am addicted to Farcry probably need counselling ;D

Would like to make videos can you advise software needed for capturing the vids.
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: Art Blade on October 17, 2009, 01:34:00 AM
regarding vid software, there are too many posts scattered across the forum to give you one single good read, and I had to be careful picking a quote because you are on the PC (whereas many vids were taken from PS3 using different methods). MadCat1968 did great vids on his PC:

Quote from: MadCat1968 on April 12, 2009, 05:57:41 PM
Hi, I'm MadCat a regular FarCry2 forummer at "forums.ubi.com".

My interest in FarCry2 was rekindled with my interest in creating short movies showing how to get some of the more difficult diamonds. This video shows what is possible given the 1GB 10 minute video upload constraints of YouTube.  I was able to capture a complete mission plus the buddy subverted mission with a bonus "pill" run at the end. The secret is to speed up the video 2x and do only what is absolutely necessary to complete the missions.

I used fraps, virtualdub and ffmpeg software to create the full length featured movie.

Hope you like it.

Marty quickstart after tutorial AND all Leboa weapons (http://openworldgames.org/owg/forums/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=115)

Why not?  ;D Have fun.

By the way, this is what I usually do, cheat me some diamonds and then use the weapons unlock cheat. I thought you might like that, too, without having to w@&k your way through how to actually get 500 diamonds into your game from start. Now weapons and upgrades worth around 500 diamonds are in your armoury  ;)

From the download page (I spared a readme):

QuoteHello OWG fans,

This is for those of you who would like a decent start.

Tutorial is finished, you are Marty, best buddy is Josip, rescue buddy is Paul. You'll find yourself in the armoury at Mike's in Leboa, and all weapons are already on the walls, fully upgraded (worth about 500 diamonds, hehe) and your loadout and ammo crates prepared.

You have 1 diamond cash, lol :)

I used ArtMoney (nothing to do with me) to cheat diamonds, I also used the weapons unlock cheat, then saved. Now you can play without trainer or cheats, a regular game, only you already have all Leboa weapons and all available upgrades at your disposal.

Have fun :)
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: Art Blade on November 30, 2009, 06:26:05 PM
I initially intended to upload a save with 500 diamonds, wrote a readme of how I like to cheat me diamonds and then use the weapons unlock cheat. After experimenting with and without cheats, I realised you needed the cheat to be activated, or the arms dealer's PC wouldn't allow you to access all Leboa weapons. Then I realised my folder was not sorted by date... a strange feeling crept up my spine... I checked the savegame I had just uploaded and oh dear, it was just a random save. Probably one from in the middle of the tutorial, lol  ;D

Well, obviously I needed to delete the first uploaded save. Then I fixed it, and here you are ;)

Alright, people, here is something for you to download that is the exact opposite:

ART BLADE 2 (http://openworldgames.org/owg/forums/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=117)

Ready to play freely with the following attributes:

- All weapons fully upgraded and ready-to-go in your armoury, including the golden AK47 which is in a crate there.
- Reputation level 4 (because one extra buddy in Bowa rescued) in both districts!
- Sickness level 2 (good stamina)
- No more malaria attacks! (because game progress is at 73%)
- savegame Bowa: inside armoury n/e of Port Selao.
- savegame Leboa: Bus stop at Pala.

There are still all side missions available in both districts (however, there are only assasination missions in Leboa)

The purpose of the savegames is to be able to do all kinds of stuff, like free roam, merc wars, attack guard posts, drive around, do whatever you like. This is the point of the game I like best. Go tease some mercs in Pala, Sefapane or Port Selao and listen to their chat lines, now that you have reputation level 4 :)

Enjoy.

You need to unzip the files to the savegames folder located in your "My documents", "My games" , "Far Cry2" folder.  If you have a game going just make a new folder in the "Far Cry 2" folder and transfer the savefiles there otherwise you may not see Art´s savegame when you start. Oh yeah do all this before yiu start the game  :)

lol, thanks, deadman :) I just read gord's post, hit "reply" and already got a warning that someone else has posted a reply  ;D :-X

indeed.

The savegame file names are distinct but in the game all you will see is "Marty, Act2, 73%" - So if you keep your savegames, chances are, if you are not playing as Marty, that you can find the savegames by scrolling down the list on the lookout for Marty saves :)
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: Art Blade on December 20, 2009, 07:48:10 AM
By the way, those two savegames...

- have the same time of day, 6:00am.
- in case you try the unlimited ammo cheat, you should have unlimited handgrenades as well as molotovs (no idea why, first time for me it worked like that)
- you can see Sefapane's garage in ruins, down to the ground (as far as I know, that's not normal. Happened when I overdid it a little during a buddy mission)

:)

Title: Re: Quick Start Saves

Probably ever since the game was out. Try the savegame, at 73%, and tell me if you get any malaria attack.

We may not have noticed because the game gets intense in its endgame phase, which is just about to happen -- the next mission will be you waking up in prison, escape from prison, get your gear back (armoury, preferrably) and then Heart of Darkness... no way back but a lot of action. Probably a bad idea to get a malaria attack while the credits are on...  ;D

Edit, there are a couple more missions to do until you really get to the endgame. But it's cool at sickness level 2, no malaria, no mission pending, just explore. DON'T progress the game if you want to enjoy malaria-free playing.

Today it ocurred to me that you guys might have thought that the malaria attacks had stopped for the rest of the game, but it's only around this 73% (savegame). In case you continue playing with it, as in taking on main missions, your health, stamina and reputation will get reduced and malaria will strike again, until late in the game (Landing zone, there's a period when you'll be reset to 0 sickness level, but that will be reverted again.

I played for a very long time without progressing the game (no main missions) and spent hours in Leboa and Bowa, without a single malaria attack. I almost forgot that later on the attacks return. The savegame was thought to be used like that: DON'T progress. :)

Right now, I'm finishing a playthrough and have had malaria attacks. Just so you know.
Title: Re: Quick Start Saves
Post by: Art Blade on January 30, 2010, 07:03:50 PM
Alright, another savegame (http://openworldgames.org/owg/forums/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=122):

Paul, @92% game progress (mission: go to prison for Heart of Darkness)
sickness level 4 (malaria attacks... poor stamina...)
reputation 5 (yeah! savegame in Port Selao, show those mercs who you are!)
All diamonds collected (1,000) No diamonds cheated
638 diamonds to your disposal! (I only bought what I needed)
74% shot accurracy @ 16,495 shots fired (not bad, eh ;) )
43/40 side missions (admire the stats page)

What to do with this?

Well, first of all, it's a save in Port Selao, with the highest reputation level possible. Want to hear and see how mercs react to that? Aim at them, bump into them, or simply: let them see you!  ;D

You can explore a little and play the endgame.

You can buy anything you want that I haven't (638 rocks left for you)

Just mess around, it's not your playthrough :)

Post by: Art Blade on January 31, 2010, 09:54:42 AM
sometimes they don't do much or takes a little, maybe drive out of Bowa and return, should be fine.

I've seen reactions like someone sees me and goes "Whoaaa, Jesus!" or they start to laugh hysterically, back away from me... if you bump into someone they go like "sorry, my fault" and staring at someone makes them go like "I don't know you, I don't want to get into trouble" or "did you practice that stare in the mirror?" lol If you aim at someone, the will back away really fast with hands up... all kinds of things  :)
