Me neither, nice find D_B :-D

There are more restricted areas; There is the prison, slightly south of Sandy Shores, and there is the army base on the west side of the island, between the two rivers floating from the huge lake towards the sea. They will all grand you with a proper wanted lvl, which is usually leading to death, since the cops are not really forgiving in this GTA edition.
In earlier games There would usually be areas, mostly islands, that would be locked in the beginning of the story, and would get unlocked completing certain missions. Going there prematurely was always causing a 5 star wanted level but you could simply stay alive for quite long if you were skilled enough. Now the police helicopters are shooting you down instantly as soon as they get a chance.

You're just supposed to know, I guess.  I got caught in restricted airspace ina blimp - imagine how fast you can escape in that thing.

Interestingly enough I rose high and actually managed to evade the cops.  I never thought I would escape as I received the warning.  Tried to turn and it was soooooooooooooo sloooooooooooooooooo

Art Blade

same thing happened to me, blimp over LS international and escaped upwards.. didn't know I wasn't allowed there. Until I bought a hangar, that is :-D

Yeah I had some fun in the airport yesterday, and having save games is soooo nice, I got used to not being able to experiment because most games lately don't have extra save game slots. But I saved and then went for a joy ride around the runways for a while then hid in an open hangar and shot people as they came in the door. Eventually got over run and died, but loaded up the save game and all was well.

Also had some issues with the government facility. I thought I would get instant wanted stars for going there, but just drove in. Had to bump the gate with the car to make it open, but drove right past the security guard, got out and walked around, then tried to leave. I think the guard at the exit gate was less easy going than the one I passed on the way in, as he didn't even like me when I was walking around, so as I sped past him on the way out and crashed the gate, he got onto me. But it was only one star and easy to drive into the hills to get rid of the cops. They aren't so good at off-roading. Did the same thing when I robbed a convenience store, drove up a gully into the hills and the cops never found me.

Which reminds me, has anyone ever tried helping the cops when they are chasing someone else? I followed a cop car that was chasing a garbage truck and not having any luck getting it to pull over. I heard them say "Someone shoot the tires" and wondered if I shot the tires and helped them stop the guy if I would get in trouble? They eventually got it to stop and had a shootout with the guy, after which I grabbed his gun and money.

Yes. There are even random events when the bad boys tell you to choose sides. If you help the cops, you get a one star wanted level (you still are not a cop) and if you help the baddies, you get two stars.

I also helped the cops once, but when I shot the bad guys down, the green was laying on the ground next to them... too tempting :-D

I don't know.  :-\\

I suspect that the fate of the subject of the reward poster in the first screen shot is revealed by the third item on the daily specials menu in the fourth screenshot.  ???

Yeah, right Mandru, lol. Yesterday's pet, today's lunch hehehe

Anyway, got a bit peeved off yesterday, with the unavoidable mission markers again. First off, I opened the game to the rich guy standing outside the gun shop next to his car. Decide to go inside and get some more gun practice at the range. After that, go back outside to find the car gone, it's mysteriously moved itself back to his house.

Why? City-wide valet parking moved it for me?

So, I grab a nice Lambo-looking car from the lot across the street and drive it around getting the driving skill up a bit. Decide I like this car so want to bring it back to the house to park it in the garage. Try to sneak past the mission marker which is out in the driveway to get the car in the garage, but no dice, mission activates anyway. This is the one where you ride bikes with the snotty son down on the beach then get the daughter off the porn yacht. OK, I do that, then end up on the beach after that, and a message shows up that the Lambo car I had left in the driveway has been impounded. Nice.

So, not only is there city-wide valet service that takes your personal car back to your house even if you don't want them to, there's a towing service that will impound your other car even if it's left in your driveway? It's stuff like this that gets me mad at this game.

nice. :-D

As to the cars.. agree.. the cars I own are only sitting in the garage because I am too paranoid to drive them around. If they get wrecked for good, they're definitely gone. Particularly nasty when you buy cars like the 10,000,000 type Z. Hasn't yet happened to me because I rarely drive them. Any other car, be it pimped-up or the way I erm, found them, they get impounded. Like, always. Unless you stand right next to them. So my typical routine is to grab a car and drive that or take a cab to the impound lot and release my impounded car for $250.

PZ

I've not been to the impound lot - could you steal your car back?

OWGKID

It is possible in Online since the impound lot is the same lot used for Tonya's missions. In SP, the impound is a garage. There is no way to enter the garage (other than paying the fee).

Ah yeah, I was hoping to steal the car out of the impound too, but since it was an "acquired" car, it's probably just as easy to acquire another, right? lol

Sure is - I enjoy the mindless chaotic driving when I steal cars

Nice pics, Stiku  :-X

Dweller_Benthos

Right, I mean, that IS the name of the game, literally, right? So if you DON'T steal cars then you're not playing it correctly.

Oh yeah... one of my favorite activities is stealing a fast car then driving at breakneck speeds uncovering new parts of the map.  There is a part of the the highway north on the west side that rises toward a right curve and if you're top speed then you literally fly off the highway into the oncoming traffic.  Feels real when that happens  >:D

This happens to me usually when I drive too fast.
