Speaking of JC2 screenshots, I think it's incredible they didn't incorporate a function for that. I can't even use irfanView, it would produce only a black image. PRNTSCR doesn't w@&k either. Since I don't want to purchase anything online, I can't get FRAPS which is supposed to w@&k with it. Bah.

Yes, FRAPS works with anything, and in fact, it is increasingly being used for recording professional content, such as in education.

Back on topic, as I was playing JC2 this morning it occurred to me that there is a similarity between the differences in FC2 versus JC2 and the differences between an old Volkswagen and a Benz - both are great cars one is just a bit more sophisticated than the other.

I was remarking myself in talking with my son how great the ability to w@&k with factions are, having all the citizen activity, and being able to move around unharassed from the military if wanted.  Those 3 key things even more than the additional vehicles and landscape differences are what really set apart the two games.

I've been letting my son play a bit and he had a blast "patrolling" one of the small towns with his faction friends.  He jumped in the mounted gun of a military jeep and a nearby facman drove him around the town fighting the govmen.

PZ, you make me smile with your comparison  :)

space, I think that you pointed out important facts comparing both games. If someone doesn't know either game, your observation and remarks may help quite a bit to see the differences between both.

Simply put: FC2 requires you to fight while JC2 doesn't (while in "free roam" mood or mode).

I thought of something else on the way home and realized that FC2 does atmosphere better than JC2 (not the earth's atmosphere).  But I remember being seriously on the edge of my seat, not sure what I'd find or what was going to happen.  Just the "feeling" was so immersive.  And the world in which you are immersed is very hostile.  So none of the outrageous stuff I love in JC2, but really fun and intense in a different way.

Funny actually that I though both of these games which are both loved by some of us here have one thing majorly in common.  Neither really won the hearts of the greater gaming public.  Yet I think we have the knack of finding and enjoying these unique games that really offer something special.  I feel bad for the devs that don't get the credit or sales they deserve, but at the same time I like feeling that I'm part of the "in" crowd that gets these games and don't just go for the commercial successes.

Art snuck in his post while I was typing - here are some more observations for you mate!

Nice additional comments there, spaceboy  :) :-X

"If you want something special, check OWG" -- thanks to members who play games and report back here (anywhere on this site) we get to know stuff you won't read about on most of the other sites out there. Well, apart from http://mygamepages.com  ;)
