re: previous vids: I did that boat race yesterday, and it was not half as graceful as yours, Eeyore  ;D

And the areal bombing was nice  :-X

That's because eor is on the console  ;D  :-X

I've mentioned before that I sometimes feel like I'm aiming with my feet when using the PS3 controller, but I can say similar with the PC - I feel like I'm steering my vehicles with my feet having to use wsad  ;D

Art Blade

hehe  ;D I was amazed at how precise he managed that first jump (goal 6 I think). I crashed there like 5 times, all of them funny, like wedging my boat upside down into trees, crashing into some large objects, backflips, all kind of stuff and my boat looked more like a heap of smoldering charcoals than anything when I got off that ledge and raced on  ;D

I've done quite a few antics at that spot myself, and once I happened to see a fast boat that I managed to steal to finish the race - lots of fun!

The view is spectacular from way up there.

Interesting to see an upgrade part icon that appears to be miles away, when you can sometimes be very close and not see the icon.  It also looked like someone fired a missile at you.  ;D

Bad throws at the last group of attackers notwithstanding, this is a good use of triggered explosives.  ;D

This one inspired me to try a variant this morning - I took the mission, but rather than using the provided quad for transportation, I had the black market dealer deliver a Rowlinson K22 (armed).  This is the tiny helicopter that is fast and agile.

I flew the K22 to the temple and then parked it a short distance away, went up to the temple to trigger the mission, and then grappled back to the copter.  Quickly ascending, it was no more than 20 seconds later that all three groups of govmen attacking from three points of the compass were in smoking ruin.

What fun it is to play in this huge sandbox  :-X

The moral of the story - there is always some technique that will get the job done easily, but the improper choice leads quickly to death.  ;D

Yeah, I see those icons from time to time. They are a result of me strafing an area with a helo and moving on without completing the settlement.

They can be annoying and confusing at times.

No...no missile. There was a fire fight taking place below me and someone tossed a grenade. One reason I swapped audio on the clip was because of the gunfire below. It ruined the mood.  ;D

BTW... I learned how to fly the balloon. You step to the corner of the gondola which coincides with the direction you want to go. I was able to make a perfect landing at the airport where I promptly hijacked a big plane.

Nice  :-X

I was swimming the other day and a scorpion was crawling along the bottom of the river in front of me.  Has anyone determined when/why these scorpions appear?  Perhaps just random appearance?

Art Blade

Couldn't make out a pattern so far, I believe it's random. Nice vid :) I didn't know I could walk (as Rico), I always run (except I'm carrying an UGG).

spaceboy

perhaps on PC you can't walk?  If you use the keyboard to move that might be the case.  On consoles (back to the analog sticks) you can adjust how fast you move (or accelerate/brake in vehicles).

serves me right, I'm kind of an "all or nothing" guy anyway  ;D

space is correct - the PC is all-or-nothing like in driving - the analog sticks are definitely a plus when doing fine movements.

btw Art, I believe you have a G15 keyboard - do you know what the chrome "button" with the joystick logo is?  It is located above the F3, F4 keys.  It looks like a button, but does not press.

Art Blade

yes, it prevents the windows button (left side, next to CTRL) from popping up the start menu when the joystick is lit (slide it to the right) hence keeps your game running rather than flicking it back to the taskbar (happens quickly if you miss CTRL and hit windows instead).

Thanks, Art - I didn't know how that slider worked!

Happened to me, too: under water a scorpion popped up and ran away on the ground. I've observed scorpions every once and then, there doesn't seem to be a pattern behind it, so I think it's safe to say that they appear randomly.

Ricamundo

Ive had a look at some of the vids and JC2 does look impressive. it kind of reminds me a bit of FC1, but updated a lot. ;)

The third person perpective puts me off tho, and when i watch Rico's movements, it still looks like a playstation game to me. But the final nail in the coffin is that according to the Gamespot review i read(8.5/10) JC2 doesn't support Windows XP!! I find that a huge oversight. How many millions of PC's are still using XP i wonder.  Oh well, whatever.

Hah, indeed.. forced me to set up a dual boot system, I bought win7 just to be able to play JC2  ;D (well, would have had to get win7 sooner or later, so why not).

Well, im hoping to get beyond the upcoming FONV with this aging system then i'll prolly see if i can afford more memory and a newer GPU. However, if i find that i'd need Win7 to play any of the more desirable games in the near future, it would prolly make more sense just to buy a new rig. Ouch!

Still cant believe that some game makers are already writing off anyone with Win XP!

I agree, but the handwriting is on the wall when it comes to adding new and exciting graphics to games - unfortunately as far as many software developers are concerned, XP is already outdated by two versions - Vista and W7.  DirectX 11 for instance does not have an XP version and undoubtedly games will be (or are) using Dx11.

Art Blade

The reason why JC2 doesn't run with XP is that it actually requires DX10 (introduced with vista, continued with win7)
